To ask about nap times

Dd is 5 months old and seems to still sleep a lot during the day. She goes down around 6pm then has a dream feed when we go to bed 10-11pm ish. She sleeps through til around 4-5am then has a feed and change and goes back down again until about 7-8am when she gets up for the day.

But she still gets really tired and grouchy around every two hours. Today she napped at 9 for an hour and a half, then 1pm for an hour and now she's fallen asleep again at 3:40! Soon it will be bedtime again.

I'm not complaining. I know we are lucky with the night time sleeping in particular. But I thought by this age they were supposed to be awake a bit more. Does this sound normal?

Sounds very normal! Quite a few babies seems to fall into a routine of a nap around 9am, nap after lunch and at this age, a third nap before bed! My 8 month old still has that 3rd nap most days. I can push mine to do around the 3 hours, but it's hard work!

That's good. I mean we are lucky in the sense that she sleeps well but during the day I feel like
I'm hanging around waiting for her to wake up so that we can do stuff. She doesn't sleep as well on the move and when she's tired she's a nightmare so it's easier sometimes to just let her sleep at home. The third nap sometimes doesn't happen depending on when and how long she's slept for during the morning and afternoon.

Yep. We were a solid three naps a day for around 9-10 months. (Although didn’t manage such a good night for ages)
Have you tried napping in a sling? Made it easier for us to get out in the day. Otherwise I agree you’re just trying to squeeze everything round the naps..!

Too bloody often,

It could be if you do take any medication 💊 the effect of them,
few medications can be like that,

Just thinking it could be sign of medical health issue of some sort ,
Such as Diabetes springs to mind ect

Also once menaupuse is approaching your body changes this can bring on this symptoms too

Sounds right for 5 months
mine is 24 months, when I returned to work at 12 months she was still napping for 9am and then again after lunch at 12.30/1 I never let her sleep last 3
Given the opportunity she would still do this now! (The 9am nap and does on my day off /weekends if I take her out in the car)

she’s a pickle at sleeping at night though! Long and drawn out process before she goes off
