Fish and chip owner celebrating the Queens death in Scotland
Chickpea17 · 12/09/2022 14:16
Can't believe someone be so cruel to do this.
Why would you celebrate the death of the Queen.

Thank you for clarifying you have little respect for the late Queen. You are more concerned with a vile bigot. No surprises, given our previous encounters on the Tory threads. You carry on. I'm not going there with you.
@ilovesooty is right though. Also, respect for the queen is not a legal requirement.
The standards are getting dragged to the gutter, when you crack open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate somebody dying. That, imo, tantamounts to hate and its incitement. There is a dubious line here as to whether her celebrating in public, could be bordering on public disorder. Last time I looked, that was very much a criminal offence.

Culldesack so by your logic if someone disagrees with your views the law doesn't apply. Get a grip. If I disagree with your views on royalty it doesn't give me the right to assault you or encourage others to do so. You seem to be the one encouraging public disorder here.

You really haven't understood what I said about public disorder. The woman, arguably, could be accused of inciting hatred. That is my academic view. My personal view is that she reaps what she sows.
Georgeskitchen · 12/09/2022 16:21
She is entitled to do this in a democratic country. I don't condone her chippy being vandalised but people Will vote with their feet and go elsewhere for their fish suppers.
She will probably realise she's bankrupted her business for her beliefs.......but as I said, we are a democracy 😉 😜

I didn't say anything about getting caught.
Mardyface · 12/09/2022 14:27
Well they can't though can they. Not within the law.
Culldesack · 12/09/2022 14:23
They can do what they like, in response to an unnecessarily cruel action.
Mardyface · 12/09/2022 14:20
He can say what he likes though can't he. Or he should be able to. I think it's the people causing actual physical damage to his shop who should be the subject of your horror.
Can I just clarify that according to you if someone does something you don't like it is acceptable to respond with an illegal action of retribution?
I don't like a lot of the things you say on this forum, or what you stand for in general, so presumably if I vandalise your property or assault you (and don't get caught) you'll not be bothered about it?

I certainly don't like a lot of things YOU say on this forum. That's as far as I'm taking it with you.

Great, we can agree that you don't like me and I don't like you, but that doesn't answer the question I asked you.
Would you be happy for me to vandalise your property or physically attack you because I don't like you?

Her conduct, however unpleasant, was not illegal. Criminal damage and vandalism is. Thank you for clarifying that you have little respect for the law.
Culldesack · 12/09/2022 15:19
In this instance, absolutely. Fight vulgar conduct with vulgar action.
ilovesooty · 12/09/2022 15:15
I've seen it. I questioned your apparent assertion that illegal behaviour is OK if you don't get caught.
Culldesack · 12/09/2022 15:13
See my earlier response, to somebody saying the same as you.
ilovesooty · 12/09/2022 14:55
No they can't. Criminal damage is illegal.

I thought you objected to material being brought in from other threads?
Objecting to criminal and illegal behaviour does not imply lack of respect for the late Queen. You carry on scraping that barrel though.

No they can't. By all means boycott the chippy. But criminal damage is never acceptable.
Absolutely. I wouldn't buy anything from her but criminal damage just can't be condoned.
CPL593H · 12/09/2022 17:32
She's a loopy conspiracy theorist and I found what she did very distasteful, but the whole community could have expressed their feelings by refusing to use her shop, ever and alerting the police if they felt any laws had been broken. If they absolutely had to, they could have held a silent and peaceful protest outside the premises. Given the nature of her business, it would have had an effect very quickly. There was no need or excuse for criminal damage.
