Matching tumble dryer and washing machine?

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 11/09/2022 15:10

Do your tumble dryer and washing machine match? I want to change to a heat pump tumble dryer and to get the one that is white and matches our washing machine is £90 more than to get the same one but in graphite.

They’re tucked away in the utility room not out on display but I would KNOW!!!

Am I being ridiculous?

YABU just get the cheaper one
YANBU I understand! Get the matching one.

To add to my intense irritation a few weeks ago the white one was on offer for £130 less than it is now and we made the mistake of saying we’ll order it when we get back from holiday…..

It matters to you, and the manufacturers may know that hence the price.

pay the money.

(I wouldn’t).

Ours are not tucked away, do not match but are the same colour...I hadn't even considered this was a 'thing'!

Floralnomad · 11/09/2022 15:14

All of my white goods are white , I like them to match . I wasn’t fussed about what colour we had originally but my husband is very averse to non white white goods for some reason which I’ve never bothered to investigate .

CactusBlossom · 11/09/2022 15:17

When my washing machine packed in, I bought a new one, not the same make as the original. The following year, the tumble dryer handed in its cards, so I bought a replacement (the new one is the same make as the new washing machine). To me, the important thing is that they work! Put a door in front if it troubles you that much... or wait (if you can) for the Black Friday sales as you may find a significant reduction then!

mrsbyers · 11/09/2022 15:50

Ours match in the utility , it was important to me that they did so we got them

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 11/09/2022 16:04

I don’t know if I should risk waiting til Black Friday…. Prices just seem to keep going up!!

It’s stupid really - I can afford to get the matching one I’m just so irritated not to have got it when it was the lower price that I just can’t seem to bring myself to order it at the price it is now.

Mine match. I like it that way. It would bother me if they didn't.

Tinkywinkydinkydoo · 11/09/2022 16:09

Dryers are cheaper over the Summer as no one needs to buy one. Now it’s getting wet and cold and everyone who needs a new one is going for a heat pump dryer as they cost a lot less to run so I’d purchase one now.

DailyMailHater · 11/09/2022 16:15

Mine match, it would bother me if they didn’t.
when we went to get them the tumble dryer was more in the colour we wanted than a white one, cause we were buying both together, along without paying for fitting of the new and removal of the old - so spending a large amount , the sales buy went and got authorisation from his manager and brought the tumble dryer down to the same price as the white one…this was a few years ago at John Lewis.

DramaAlpaca · 11/09/2022 16:17

Mine have to match. I don't care if they are different brands (they are) but they have to be the same colour.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 11/09/2022 16:23

Mine match. They're right next to each other so I wouldn't like the look of it if they didn't. A graphite and a white appliance next to each other I'd find a wee bit jarring.
That said, I could afford the ones I wanted.

If cost is a consideration though, I guess I would find myself a little less fussy.

rnsaslkih · 11/09/2022 16:28

Mine don't match. I couldn't care less. But if it's important to you, then buy them matching.

Lcb123 · 11/09/2022 16:31

Don’t have a dryer and honestly I’d think less of myself if I worried about the colour

C8H10N4O2 · 11/09/2022 16:40

It has honestly never occurred to me to get matching machines, even when they were clearly visible in the kitchen.

xogossipgirlxo · 11/09/2022 16:42

No, because matching dryer was £700. I paid £125 for recall from hotpoint for faulty dryer. I want to have matching ones one day, no rush though.

Frazzled2207 · 11/09/2022 16:48

Wow this had genuinely never occurred to me. Mine are both white but different makes.
those that insist that they “match”- when one breaks do you replace both? Bloody Nora

JustAWeirdoWithNoName · 11/09/2022 16:52

Mine are both white (although slightly different shades as the tumble dryer was inherited from a friend when she replaced it). Honestly if it would bother you and you can afford it, spend the £90. Doing laundry is annoying enough as it is without being annoyed at your white goods not matching.

PollyPeePants · 11/09/2022 17:27

Mine match and I would pay a little more to have matching rather than non matching.
If one of my current appliances broke, I want to change colours and I would replace both to keep them matching.
Sad but true!

Nanalisa60 · 11/09/2022 17:30

Would not really are about the make but I like the colour to match.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/09/2022 17:39

We recently got a heat pump dryer. Our washer is a white Siemens with grey around the edge of the door; the dryer is a Samsung which is white with a black door. I'd have preferred the all white model but it was about £60 more and it would have pissed me off to pay extra for something in the utility room and at least the body colour matches (theres also a big white freezer in the utility room.)
