Taking a tour whilst travelling...

Which would you do.

OK so my friend and I are traveling for an event (think along the lines of a work seminar, but unofficial and non mandatory. Active participation required). Let's say its the 1st to the 3rd. The first day we are just focused on getting there. On the evening
of the 2nd, around 6ish, we have the event to attend.

My friend thinks we should do a walking tour (3 hours) on day 2. Before the event. This worries me a little as I don't know the area and am thinking in terms of getting back for the event and being well rested. I'd rather take a leisurely pace day. (However, tbf this day being a week day, the city would be less busy tbf, which is always a bonus when walking around I suppose).

I would do the walking tour before we go home. On the morning of day 3. We can nap on the bus home. But obviously it might mean rushing about at the last minute between where the tour ends and getting our bus (4ish) So potentialy more stressful. Plus on a weekend so it'll be more busy in the city.

Sooooo
Yabu- I'd rather be tired for the event
Yanbu-id rather be stressed before the journey home

Purely a matter of preference really but just wondered which u would choose.
Thanks :)

(I should say the tour in the morning of day 3 should end with plenty of time for us to eat lunch and get our bus tbf)

I'd do the walking tour on Day 2, otherwise you're just hanging around until 6pm waiting for the event. Get out, get some fresh air/exercise and see a bit of the city. Time it so that you are finished by 3pm to freshen up, change etc.

Then on the last day you can have a lazy start, check out, go for lunch/walk and then get your bus.

What would you do on day 2 if you don't do the tour? It's only 3 hours so leaves you loads of time to get ready for the event. And unless you are very unfit a 3 hr walking tour (which will most likely include lots of stops) should not leave you exhausted for the evening.

Yes that's fair. But equally, we've to be put of the hotel at 11 at the latest on day 3 with nothing to do for 5 hours. Which is why I kinda want to do it then.

Thats true. I guess because I'm super looking forwards to the event (even though I've made it seem unappealing af haha) I'm just ocd about being in well rested for it.

Hopefully once you've done the walking tour you'll have a better idea of the city and maybe get some idea for places that you could see on Day 3 for a couple of hours - galleries, parks, nice parts of town to potter and have lunch/coffee.

I don’t think you have time to do a 3 hour guided tour. These things sometimes over-run. You can explore by yourselves for a shorter time on both occasions.
