To think this early menopause??

I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 15 and was on the pill for nearly 10yrs. When I broke up with my ex nearly 18mths ago I decided to come off the pull to see what my cycles would be like and have been off it ever since and have no intention of ever going back in it as it was giving me awful migraines towards the end. I’ve now been with my current partner for nearly 5mths and we use condoms when we dtd. We are not ttc and have no plans to at least for another year 18mths!

I had my first proper period 34 days after stopping the pill in June 2021. For the first 6mths or so after that cycles ranged from 21 days to 32 days with some brown spotting 1-2 days before af or in between cycles.

Since January/February this year my cycles have been very regular began to wonder if I even had PCOS! Cycles ranged from 30-34 days with ewcm and bbt rise around cd17-19, one cycle ovulated on cd23! Luteal phase 10-11 days.

However, last month I started bleeding on cd19 which was only pink discharge like, sorry tmi! Which then progressed to normal period bleeding and only needed one tampon then next day, then the following day exceptionally light brown spotting then stopped. I wasn’t sure to count this as a proper period or not!

Fast forwarded to yesterday cd19 (had a sneaky feeling it would) bled lightly only when I wiped with reddy/pink did she be not enough to fill a tampon. Then again this morning slightly heavier with some red blood but not needing a tampon and had since stopped!

So are these proper periods, spotting in between one long cycle or was my last freak cycle a proper cycle and now I’m bleeding in between???

Im only 26 and worried this is early menopause!!!! Help please!

Ovulation bleeding maybe?
Have you done a pregnancy test?

KangarooKenny · 10/09/2022 20:02

I doubt it’s menopause, probably your PCOS causing it, but If you have any changes you need to be seen.

This was almost exactly what happened to me and it was early menopause. It was missed repeatedly by doctors so I think that's unusual and I really hope it isn't the case for you.

It was repeated FSH tests as part of fertility treatment that diagnosed it in the end for me, sometimes my FSH was absolutely in range and my AMH was always very good but eventually they caught it well into menopause range.

Menopause that early would be so unusual! Not impossible but far more likely to be something else.

See a doctor for your own peace of mind.

I've got pcos and my periods were all over the place. I often went 3 months without a period, very rarely had one monthly and the longest between periods was 3 years.
Now I'm old 🤣aNd don't want anymore children my period shows up like clockwork every 28days 😩.
So in your case it might not be early menopause at all x

I was hoping it was ovulation bleeding last month but now that it’s happened again at exactly the same time it can’t be!!! 😫 I took a pregnancy test last month and a clear bfn so very obviously not pregnant as I’m convinced I’m not ovulating!!

Ive managed to get a drs appointment next week…
