Inheritance tax bonus
TitInATrance · 10/09/2022 09:44
Imagine if the estate of our late Queen (RIP) was subject to inheritance tax, without prerogatives or family trusts. What a bonus that would be for the country at a difficult time.
Yes, she did a good job for an exceptionally long time, but I don’t believe she or her heirs have ‘earned’ such a large slice of the nation’s wealth.
Am I being unreasonable?

Good point. The double standards and corruption in this country are hard to stomach.
Someone will try and say it’s different because it’s a royal estate, but you’re spot on, OP.

Would never have happened. Steps would have been taken years ago 're trusts etc. Read about the Duke of Westminster. £billions but locked away behind investments, trusts etc

Trusts pay inheritance tax on 10 year anniversary of setup … except those set up before 1974. Time for a change in the law (almost 50 years later) to treat everybody the same way.
