Stationery shopping!

I will be starting a new job and NEED some lovely and sophisticated stationery.

In particular I need a not too big but not too small pencil case and some wonderful to write with pens, in black preferably a couple of other colours (not fountain).

I have a maximum of £50 for the above plus pencils and other stuff. I don't need any pads.

I know Mumsnet have a lot of love for pens so link me to your favourites please!

Paperchase?

I order most of my pens from cultpens these days, I love the OHTO needlepoint for work as they are so fine I cant write in the small spaces easily and neatly. They are also super comfortable writing for periods of time, and brightly coloured so I can always identify they are mine (student nurse, pens get pinched)

I bloody love mildliners for my uni work, highlight what I need in pretty colours, they can be expensive, but amazon has knockoffs that are decent

If you like gel pens, either inkjoys, or the arteza gels are super lovely, I like the sarasa's too, but I find sometimes you get a scratchy one which I find infuriating

My cases are mostly from paper chase or WH smiths

I know you said no fountain pens, but Nahvalur (previously Narwhal) pens and a bottle of IROSHIZUKU ink is a high initial price, but writing with them is better than sex.

Also! I tend to write alot in pencil when planning or doing notes, faber-castell apollo mechanical pencils are fabulous, I must have 30 of them easily.

I'm a full-on stationery addict though, I have 100's of pens, pencils, and fountain pens.

I love Paperchase for stationery. I’m also a big fan of Papermate pens (they’re so lovely and comfy to write with) - I think Rymans, and perhaps a few other places, sell Papermate pens? Ah I’m jealous of you OP - I love that ‘back to school’ autumnal feeling of shopping for beautiful new stationery!

(the lamy ball points are also really nice for prolonged periods of writing)

Inkjoy gel pens - definitely! My favourite of those is the purple, but I'm not sure you can buy those separately.

GimmeSleep · 09/09/2022 13:37

Inkjoy pens are my favourite pens

I usually use Cultpens too. I like fountain pens but Uni-ball Eyes are good if you don't want fountain pen. For mechanical pencils, Rotring Tikky are really nice to use and you can get refills too (that's one of the things I like about Cultpens, it's easy to work out which refills are suitable for which pens).

WHSmith is probably the best option for pencil cases - lots of choice just make sure you get a fabric one not pvc as they tend to split.

I've recently been using sharpie s-gel pens and I love them. I don't normally use wet ink because I end up with it everywhere but these don't smear. The busy b to do notes book is nice too.

HuzzahIndeed · 10/09/2022 20:05

Thank you all. I'm all stocked up now! Eagerly waiting for the postie!

What a beautiful way to treat yourself!

Liberty on-line has beautiful things. i bought Christian de la Croix archive print note books in beautiful embossed metallic materials. They were about £18 for an A5, much better quality than Moleskin.

Amazon has some very nice notebooks too.

Chazx · 10/09/2022 20:41

Cult pens .... amazing range of stuff. enjoy your new things!
