So sad. DB said it was due at 6 and then delayed. so hard for the broadcasters.

lasvegasherewe · 08/09/2022 18:37

Rest in Peace, wonderful leader.

ListenLinda · 08/09/2022 18:37

Rest in Peace Your Majesty.

RIP. I cannot believe she was able to stand and greet Liz Truss 48 hours ago, and whilst frail, still had that absolutely delicious smile. How did she do that?

Yes. Massive respect for that 😭😭😭😭

More accurate than the insiders

I don't get this gleefulness about people "getting it wrong" about it being 6pm when this is about an important figure's death.
No matter how much newsrooms planned to announce at 6pm, and I promise you they did, they can't announce until been given the official say-so. Which got held up.

ILikeHotWaterBottles · 08/09/2022 18:38

Very dedicated woman. May she rest in peace.

sueelleker · 08/09/2022 18:38

Sharrowgirl · 08/09/2022 18:15

Huw Edwards and Nicholas Witchell doing a fucking amazing job talking about nothing and repeating themselves for 4/5 hours. It must be really hard!!

You could tell they were just trying to fill time, waiting for the announcement. RIP QE11.

KittenKins · 08/09/2022 18:38

I feel rather sad, I wish she had some not being our head of state & just being herself.

FMSucks · 08/09/2022 18:38

I’m Irish and don’t know much about the monarchy but she was a kick ass woman. She will be missed. RIP

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 18:39

Nick Witchell has changed. He had a blue tie with orange dots earlier.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/09/2022 18:39

ncholas wichell now put on his blue tie, he refused to put it on i presume before

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/09/2022 18:39

I cannot believe she was able to stand and greet Liz Truss 48 hours ago, and whilst frail, still had that absolutely delicious smile. How did she do that?

Duty and service right to the end. Dammit, I've been watching for hours and thinking OK, she was 96, she was going to die in a few years, but I feel a bit weepy now.

Lovethesun100 · 08/09/2022 18:39

RIP Your Majesty Queen Elizabeth ❤

DoubleGauze · 08/09/2022 18:39

RIP Queen Elizabeth.

I feel rather sad, I wish she had some not being our head of state & just being herself.

It was exactly as she wanted though. She didn't want it any other way.

inappropriateraspberry · 08/09/2022 18:39

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 18:39

Nick Witchell has changed. He had a blue tie with orange dots earlier.

Does it really matter?

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 18:40

DysonSphere · 08/09/2022 18:38

Yes. Massive respect for that 😭😭😭😭

She must have thought it was massively important. And it was from a constitutional point of view.

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 18:40

Huw was perfect then. DD is in tears at enormity of it all. R4 was interesting they didn't break into the reporter but I wonder maybe if it was to not be too 'adrenalin' filled .

Amazing woman .

littlbrowndog · 08/09/2022 18:40

RIP ❤️

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 18:40

inappropriateraspberry · 08/09/2022 18:39

Does it really matter?

It makes it somehow more serious and real. So yes.

ItsAutumnThen · 08/09/2022 18:41

Aww that is so sad. RIP Queen Elizabeth, what a woman. RIP.

Lovethesun100 · 08/09/2022 18:41

and as a separate post, already talking of the King, King Charles !

YesitsBess · 08/09/2022 18:42

The photo on the royal family website is absolutely perfect.

it feels like the whole world has shifted.

bellabasset · 08/09/2022 18:42

I thought when I saw her the other day that this was the last time we'd see her. So very sad to see the end of her reign

KittenKins · 08/09/2022 18:42

I get that, I do, but a whole lifetime of nothing but public service? Red boxes 363 days of the year. It doesn't seem fair, although, again, when IS life fair?
