Ants in hotel room

On holiday in Cyprus at the moment, everything quite nice but there are ants in our hotel room. Told the TUI rep and she has arranged some spraying but the little buggers are still everywhere: yesterday I found some on the toilet bowl and even on my pillow. I have complained to TUI again but they are brushing this under the carpet saying "no food should be left out" which I didn't. I have travelled a lot but never seen a situation like this! Am I wrong in complaining further?

Can you ask to be moved, as the room is infested?

@autienotnaughty I raised this a few days ago and they just sprayed the room, which didn't make any difference. We are flying tomorrow so not sure if they will move us for just one night.

My Dad's family works in hospitality running a hotel and I have seen people complaining for the stupidest things. My situation is different, especially as I have a 3 year old DD who is not too happy to use the toilet with ants all over it. Not happy that TUI seems to be brushing the situation under the carpet

Then I would definitely complain and request a refund. It's really not acceptable.

We had this in a tui hotel in Cyprus mainly on the terrace, tbh they did keep cleaning/moving them away/killing them but it was annoying!

We had dropped crumbs etc in the room once and had loads of them come in - but again they did their best to remove them

Is it a swim up room?

I once had an ant infestation in a hotel room and I have no idea if it will work for you but I broke up a load of crisps and dropped l small bits in a straight trail along one unused wall and they all stayed along that line. Obviously no food anywhere else.

Might work for you if you are gone by tomorrow?! They'll still be there but out your way.

No @slv2013 - an apartment style room with a terrace. They seem to be coming from a crack in the wall near the main door. We don't even have meals in the room, only light snacks (the occasional biscuit or packet of crisps etc, mostly in the terrace). I can't fault the maids as they are trying their best to clean, but at the same time the hotel should try harder to fix the problem - how can one sleep with ants in the bed?!
