Woke up at 4am this morning with pain high in the middle of my stomach. Thought maybe trapped wind, took buscopan and windeeze , went to loo twice and no better.
I've not eaten all day cos of this pain. It's like an intense stitch or wind type pain?
I don't know if I should go to a&e or if I should just wait. It's probably a 6 on the pain scale, I can walk around kind of but it's always there. It's about here (see photo)
I don't know what to do.

To be considering going to A&E?

Seriously, it really sounds like an ulcer. You need to be patient and allow the correct medications to work. Stop taking the bloody ibuprofen! Has your doctor asked for a stool sample to rule out bacteria that can cause ulcers?

@hedgehoglurker I wouldn't say it's worse, j actually managed a normal sized meal tonight too, but I am regretting it massively now I've got in bed and I'm trying to sleep. I'm in so much pain. I keep sitting on the toilet as it feels like it's the only thing that might help but it doesn't !
They said I need to carry on with the lansoprazole and can take paracetamol and anti acids as long as it's not within an hour or so of the lansoprazole. Luckily I've got my mum helping me with my little girl.
Thank you for your support Flowers

@Lipsandlashes do you think so? Have you had one before?
I'll never take ibroprofen again they're going in the bin!
I'd done a stool sample only a month or so ago to rule out h.pylori as I've been getting a lot of heartburn xx

OP - I’ve got to ask, what was the purpose of the picture in the first post?

@hedgehoglurker thank you ❤️ when you had them was it constant pain or did it come and go? I'll take some gaviscon and paracetamol now.
I was quite impressed with my GP. I rang up when they opened and she spoke to me at 9.40am x

You shouldnt be taking gaviscon with a ppi. Have you read the leaflet that came with them?

To show where the pain is, I think?

Of course you can take gaviscon with a ppi. It's standard treatment. I've been nursing years and generally the ppi is taken in the morning on an empty stomach and gaviscon taken after meals.
I have severe reflux and my gastroenterologist is always advising me to take gaviscon as well as omeprazole twice per day.

You're right,my dad had gaviscon in hospital and he takes a PPI.

The issue with taking antacids with Lansoprazole is that they interfere with each other. Lansoprazole also prevents absorption of some other medications. General advice is to not take antacids 2 hours before or after Lansoprazole. In the initial stages of starting to take Lansoprazole, you may need to use an antacid in addition to the Lansoprazole until the Lansoprazole starts to work.

OP the other thing that I would look out for is thrush. Have you had a course of antibiotics recently? Some antibiotics can not only kill the nasty bacteria but they can also kill the good bacteria. If you have oral or vaginal thrush (or both), it's a possibility that you could also have thrush in your stomach which would account for the nausea.

If you have gastritis you cannot take ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is an effective anti-inflammatory but it sort of tears your insides.

Yes I have. I posted about it earlier in the thread

I am not giving a diagnosis, but; I have diverticular disease, like most people over 50. Generally no symptoms, but if I have an attack it is painful, I can't go to the toilet properly, and one of the worst attacks I had was after taking ibuprofen for muscular pain in my back. I drank lots of water, ate soft bulky food like bread and it passed ( in both meanings of the word). Hope you get it sorted

@Lipsandlashes do you did! Thank you. X

Nearly a week later and still suffering Sad Sunday and Monday were manageable and then it's flared up again today. I've been taking the lansoprazole twice a day and got codeine for the pain, I had a blood test that I think looked for infection and liver function which came back normal.. so I'm now waiting for an endoscopy. It's hard being in pain so often when you're a single mum! x

Sounds like how my acid reflux started after I had my eldest, pain was horrendous, felt constantly sick and felt like if I could be sick I’d feel better but I couldn’t be sick, I couldn’t eat, I was only eating tiny portions and feeling sick the whole time.

was given PPIs they did nothing, was eventually given domperidone which gave me my appetite back but did nothing for the pain, i still have it now and have flare ups but it’s definitely better since having my other children. Weird.

I take those chalky tablets or drink gaviscon from the bottle followed by milk that eases it. Rinitidine bought from the supermarket used to work wonders but can’t get it now

I think at only a 6

That depends so much on the person though.
Ds was nearly sent home with appendicitis because his pain was varying between a 2 and 4. He also finished a PE lesson with a broken wrist because he told the teacher "it didn't hurt much".
I have another dc who would say 6 for a minorly scraped knee.

Exactly. I was in A&E with what later turned out to be an ovarian torsion. DH kept telling me off for saying the pain was a 6 or 7, when I was clearly in a lot more pain than that. But 10 was labour after an induction and 9 was a dislocated knee, both of which had me screaming in pain.

@leopardprintlover88what did this turn out to be in the end? Sounds like what I’m experiencing at the moment
