To expect my DH to know which is his toothebrush and not to use mine!

Went to brush my teeth this morning an discovered that my toothebrush was already wet! Checked DHs and his was dry! Added 2 and 2 together and asked him when he got home from work which was his toothebrush and he replied the green one! (we got new toothebrushes at Christmas) DDs all fell about laughing, even they knew that DHs toothebrush was blue.

So since Christmas I must have been sharing my toothebrush with DH! Mind you in all my honesty, I did notice a few weeks ago and told DH that he had used the wrong one.

I cannot believe a man of his intelligence and cleanliness could be so dappy and not remember whose brush is whose!

Yuck, if there is one thing I cannot stand, it is dh using my toothbrush.

LuckyUnderpants · 22/01/2008 21:33

Buy a pink one, im sure he will remember his is NOT the pink one

pinkbubble · 22/01/2008 21:41

Well, I had bought a green one for me and a blue one for him (as in blue for boys) LOLs.

Obviously he has no commonsense! bless!

But I agree, 2 things we do on our own in this family - 1 have our own toothebrush
2 go to the loo in privacy!

Maybe he is colour blind!

am glad it's not just me! my dh doesn't seem to remember which toothbrush is his half the time either! grrr!

Dottydot · 22/01/2008 21:44

It's possible I do this sometimes... It's hard to remember!

MrsMuddle · 22/01/2008 21:59

I find it hard to remember which one is mine, too. I replace all four at once (different colours obviously!) but by the evening of the day I've bought them, I've forgotten which one is mine.

MorocconOil · 22/01/2008 22:08

My DH used to use mine. I kept hinting that it would be nice to have my own toothbrush. When he was diagnosed with some gum condition caused by smoking, I asked him to start using his own. He was really upset. I think he thought it was romantic to share

pinkbubble · 22/01/2008 22:18

There are 5 people who live in our house - DH Me and 3 DDs, DDs3 and I can remember which ones are ours - so why can't he?

Ewwwww!
Using a permanant pen write your names on your own toothbrushes! Maybe he will get it right then!

Fireflyfairy2 · 22/01/2008 22:21

Do you kiss him?

if you do, then what's the difference?

I probably use dh's toothbrush sometimes without even knowing, I grab whatever is handiest when I am in a hurry

Ubergeekian · 22/01/2008 22:34

My partner and I have been sharing a toothbrush since we got together, 16 years ago. As Fireflyfairy2 says, it wont give you anything you haven't already got from kissing...

pinkbubble · 22/01/2008 22:36

I can see what you are saying FFF2 but I actually like the thought that its my bits of food coming off my teeth etc and not DHs!

OP posts:
lazarou · 22/01/2008 22:36

Uber, have you had the same toothbrush for 16 years?!!!

pinkbubble · 22/01/2008 22:37

And yes we have been together for 20 yrs and married for almost 16 yrs, but I still think that their are things that you do on your own/have your own!

OP posts:
pinkbubble · 22/01/2008 22:39

Think a new thread needs to be started here, as in " Who shares a toothebrush with their DH/DP?

OP posts:
Fireflyfairy2 · 22/01/2008 22:42

Well, if you rinse the toothbrush before & after you brush your teeth, there won't be any bits of food on either brush!

StripeyMamaSpanx · 22/01/2008 22:44

Unreasonable? Nope.

Unrealistic? Yeah, if he is anything like the last man I lived with...

pinkbubble · 22/01/2008 22:49

But the thing is if you knew DH you would be flabberghasted honest! He is the tidy one, the oh so together one, everything in its place one _ need I go on! I am not sure I like the sharing in my toothebrush. Yes I share my bed, my money, my ideas etc, but I will not like the idea of sharing my toothebrush!

For goodness sake they cost a couple of pounds - we can afford one each -

DH "bloody please use your own!"

snorkle · 23/01/2008 09:19

Dh always uses the first one he sees as far as I can tell. It annoys the kids & me hugely, especially because whatever sort of brush it is he manages to completely flatten the bristles after about one or two brushes (I mean the toothbrush looks as though it's had several years of normal use after he's used it just a few times).

Ubergeekian · 23/01/2008 20:17

lazarou: "Uber, have you had the same toothbrush for 16 years?!!!"

I see what you mean. Mind you, we've been "sharing a bed" for that time and there have actually been four beds involved.

Spidermama · 23/01/2008 20:18

Eurch! My dh is this way inclined. He thinks I should be more chilled and not care seeing as we snog and all that, but it turns my bloody stomach I can tell you. (the toothbrush error not the snog).

wb · 23/01/2008 20:30

YABU - but that's cause I use dh brush, accidently, all the time. Sorry but after a long day they all just look the same to me and I can't see what all the fuss is about - he kisses me, after all.

My dh hates this of course, in his opinion YANBU at all.
