'People forget about the silent majority who lurk in such conversations and cba engaging with the hysterical vacuous rhetoric.'

This is true. I've tried to attempt reasonable debate in recent months but all I get is Tory scum/Nads fancies BJ/BJ is a crim type of comments.

user29 · 05/09/2022 14:54

Good news for the Labour party!

Moonface123 · 05/09/2022 14:55

l pay no attention to politics, they never follow through on anything, complete waste of time. Let them get on with it, l refuse to play along.

Agree 100% , gentler politics and all that. Most posters on this thread spewing poison really need to look in the mirror and realise they are in an echo chamber.

midgetastic · 05/09/2022 14:55

Liz has already been in a position of power
During those roles she has sone stuff I found quite disgusting - like Northern Ireland
She has said some vile and stupid things on the campaign trail - tax cuts won't help the poor

So no I won't give her any benefit of doubt just because she's female - if that's the only good thing you can say for her I guess in your heart of hearts you are not at all hopeful either

SleeplessInEngland · 05/09/2022 14:55

Here we go the vocal minority on MN bashing another female priminister who has not held the position for even a couple of hours.

Er, no. Equality means she doesn't get kudos just for being a woman. We're past that, and it's a good thing.

the80sweregreat · 05/09/2022 14:55

I may not like this news, but the LP need to get their act together too
Politics is in a bad way all round :(

daisyjgrey · 05/09/2022 14:57

The last PM hid in a fridge, the new one couldn't find her way out of one.

Who'd have thought Pork Markets would be PM.

Fucking hell.

Fladdermus · 05/09/2022 14:58

Its a shame a majority of the county never vote labour isn't it, reading this you know why.

The majority of the country never vote tory either.

Witchlight · 05/09/2022 14:59

In voting for Liz Truss, the Conservative members have voted in the Labour Party. If only Starmer showed a little integrity re woman’s rights I would be happy about it.

the80sweregreat · 05/09/2022 14:59

Maybe we will have more pork now.
Not that anyone can afford a nice joint of pork anymore. Or most meat come to think of it

antelopevalley · 05/09/2022 15:00

I read an article at the weekend arguing that if Truss follows the policies she says she will, we will have a stockmarket collapse.

This is what Phillip Hammond said
Only he was nice about it

To be fair unless you moved home in the last year there is no reason to be paying a 6k fuel bill. If people didn't choose to fix (I did and paid an early exit fee to do so because it was so clear where energy prices were going) last September that isn't the states problem.

Don't be idiotic, millions like me WERE on fixed tarifs that we carefully chose only to find our companies went bust, and we were forced on to very expensive alternatives, l went from a 2 year fix with green energy paying 16p per KWH to being forced to move to Shell on 42p per kwh.(soon to be much more)

You were purely lucky, so don't be so patronising.

No you picked the wrong energy company because you didn't properly evaluate their business model. Own your own mistakes.

satur · 05/09/2022 15:04

We are well and truly f**ked.

All those claiming to know what Liz is going to do are talking out of their back sides.

She has not even had chance to sort out a cabinet until tomorrow and not official been put in place by the queen yet. Typical MN Woke lefty's all rabidly banging crap out on their keyboards wildly as she is not a labor leader.

Never read as much completer and utter shit as posted in this thread 😂

That you Liz?

antelopevalley · 05/09/2022 15:04

@FreddyHG I did not realise we are to blame for not being able to afford to heat our house, because we do not know how to properly evaluate the viability of an energy business.
I mean we are not talking about buying off a man in a pub. Any company allowed to sell gas and electric should be viable. This is a regulated market.

vera99 · 05/09/2022 15:05

Most unpopular Tory PM ever.

That’s the Tories screwed for the next election. Time for Labour to get it’s house in order.

antelopevalley · 05/09/2022 15:05

The funny thing is MN is not full of woke leftys. Benefit bashing threads are common and often the comments are as right-wing as in Daily Mail articles.

@shootfromthehip145 you say we don't know what Truss will do? So we weren't supposed to believe those things she said she'd do, and those she wouldnt, during the leadership campaign? Is that your stance?

if so, I really do despair. Following your logic, none of the 150k conservative members had any idea, at all, what they voted for. And have bequeathed us a government that they (conservative party members) and us have no idea what it may do, or not do. Is that what you are saying? I think the majority of posters on this thread are basing their judgments on the policy Truss espoused during the leadership selection.

I'm which case, we are well and truly fucked

FreddyHG · 05/09/2022 15:08

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/09/2022 14:44

Could the pair of you be any more smug and patronising? Do you honestly think this makes you look smart?

Seeing the number of people on here who completely misjudged future energy prices or indeed had the ability to asses a companies fundamentals then yes but it's not hard. This was basic economics was clear then as now.
