AIBU to think this weekly pizza is absolutely acceptable?

It's our weekly pizza night. We have it every Saturday except when we are away. Nice tradition and bit of fun. Piza with any toppings we like (like ham and pineapple, pepperoni and anchovies), wine, beer, caprese... Just nice.

Here is where we have a problem tho. DH loves his pizza and does like the proper thing with 60% hydration dough, 24 hours rising, all that shebang. I feel neutral about pizza dough as I think it's just too much buzz about not much but I found out that a garlic and coriander naan from local Indian place is absolutely amazing pizza base! DH is not amused at all, lets me get on with it but does usually mention what heresy that is. But it's so yum!

So AIBU to use fresh garlic and coriander naan as my weekly pizza base?

I used a plain naan bread for a pizza base when I needed a quick meal. Cooked it in the air fryer. It was a great substitute.

I like a naan pizza and pitta pizza, I prefer it to pizza dough, but I do like pizza. The best ones are the big massive herb naans from morrisons, I think Iceland do them as well.

Well i would not have thought of that but blimey i am certainly going to give it a go. DH used to do ‘pizza’ for the kids on toasted bread and one of the most complimented items on my party buffets is fried onion, peppers, and sweetcorn mixed with tomato puree and oregano, spread on toasted halves of bread rolls, topped with cheese and finished off under the grill. If DH wasn't a veggie they would have chopped bacon in too.

We
Do this all the time, but you can't call it pizza!

BarbaraofSeville · 03/09/2022 18:12

Well, if it's good enough for Nigella Lawson:

Please, in the name of my Italian side of the family. No.

Hankunamatata · 03/09/2022 18:47

I like a flat bread as a quick pizza base

jetadore · 03/09/2022 18:49

Yeh I’ve done that too, it’s nice. It all started when I needed to make cheese on toast and only had naan. All the naysayers don’t know what they’re missing!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/09/2022 18:50

I'm going to try this.

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/09/2022 18:51

YANBU in that if it likes it he can make it.

Although if you mean you refuse to buy pizza bases then of course YABU

Geamhradh · 03/09/2022 18:53

As long as you don't make him eat it if he doesn't want, then what does it matter.
I eat lots of things my (Italian) dp wouldn't touch, and vice versa.

Applebark · 03/09/2022 18:57

Sounds like a step from my frozen x2 ham and pineapple lidl pizzas for 1.49 that we just had for tea. I might give it a go next time.

PrepayMeter · 03/09/2022 19:02

You are being totally unreasonable. In fact, if I was your DH I’d be consulting a lawyer on Monday morning.

Blueemeraldagain · 03/09/2022 19:06

Sounds tasty but not pizza…

Hoppinggreen · 03/09/2022 19:11

Dirty Bastard

BlancmanegeBunny · 03/09/2022 19:18

Eat what you like but that is NOT PIZZA.

As a Pakistani and a lover of pizza, trying to turn a naan into a pizza is an abomination.

😆😂👍🏻

Georgyporky · 03/09/2022 19:20

I'm in favour of fusion foods, but this seems so wrong.

Has DH tried lamb dhansak on pizza ?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 03/09/2022 19:24

We’ve also got a local place that delivers curry pizza …. I had a keema one recently and it was lush.

I think the naan base sounds great!

Mochudubh · 03/09/2022 19:34

That sounds like a game changer. Do you get the naan freshly baked from the takeaway then take straight home, add toppings and bake?

CatSeany · 03/09/2022 19:36

I love a naan pizza, but only with toppings such as chicken tikka. I wouldn't put Pepperoni on a garlic naan!

ArtyChoc · 03/09/2022 19:36

Compromise with a pizza dough basted in ghee? 🤤

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/09/2022 19:39

hides the tortilla pizzas she made this evening

georgarina · 03/09/2022 19:39

I've heard of this before
Always thought it sounded amazing!
