Dishwasher turned on at night or in morning?

I have always thought it best to turn the dishwasher on late evening so can unload in the morning to start day fresh.
My husband disagrees and prefers to put it on in the morning so it's not sitting in the damp all night.

Out of interest do you turn your dishwasher on in the evening or morning and why?!

On over night, when it’s finished the only thing that is on is the LED bulb, cost about 10p a year to run I would think

new solar panels so now daytime but used to do a 3 hours economy setting after evening meal

If you live in an upstairs flat please put it on in the morning.

In an ideal world, though we would have two dishwashers, one clear from which we use things and the other dirty which is being filled with used items.

Never have to empty it again. Kitchen always tidy with no dirty crockery sitting around. Bliss

Haha I like this concept!

Daytime as I work PT or DS will pop it on the moment he gets in at 15:30. The crappy eco wash takes four and a half hours so that means I can open it at bedtime and it'll be dry the next day.

Do you all open the dishwasher to air before unloading? Does it help dry better?

I usually let it cool before opening the door (thinking the hot air is drying the contents?!) there is always water on Tupperware and annoyingly on top of mugs, glasses etc

@Peppermint81 yes opening the door would make ours worse as the residual heat helps it dry. Rinse aid helps too. Plastics still go on the draining board for a bit though.

Really? Is this an issue? I had no idea!

As long as it's off before bed so no fire risk.
