Ahhhh!! Do people think they are Carrie Bradshaw looking out her apartment window?! Also 'No panic' as a response when there was no suggestion of a panic panic!! Aarrghhh!

And breathe. I'm sure I'm not alone.

"And in the blink of an eye"

Yep, it's everywhere... it's the #instamummies

chillipenguin · 31/08/2022 16:22

Never seen this

katishot · 31/08/2022 16:37

Yes, that's really irritating. It's all over facebook.
"And just like that she's off to Oxford"
"This one" also really riles me.
Saw a post last week "So proud of this one. He swam 5km"

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 31/08/2022 16:43

"Hit me with your best recipes/holiday destinations/books/whatever. And GO!"

This is social media, not a scavenger hunt. I have no intention of running round to do your research at your command.

Fairytalefancies · 31/08/2022 16:45

What about

'living my best life'
'Sorry not sorry
And 'me time'

Hate these more

liveforsummer · 31/08/2022 16:48

Well the tendency to do this started way before the fairly recent series. Was probably the inspiration for the title. No harm. Just people conveying they think time is passing quickly! Always wonder why people get so upset about this stuff?!

Fairytalefancies · 31/08/2022 16:48

Dunno why but it also annoys me when someone is on holiday and everyone says what a great place it is and where they should go without being asked.
This information could be useful but it feels like they say it to announce how well travelled they are...haha (im probably jealous)

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 31/08/2022 16:49

And just like that they can all fuck off.

How original they think they are "simper" "simper"

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 31/08/2022 16:49

Dh uses turn around. "she turned around and said..." 😂I pull him up on it as these people must be getting dizzy.

I hate “ I love you to the moon and back” it’s used regularly by my family and friends on social media to their loved ones and it makes my skin crawl! I have no idea where it came from but “ I love you “ is absolutely fine!

It’s a book!! A lovely childrens book, “Guess how much I love you”. It’s one of my daughter’s favourites.

You miserable old bat, it’s lovely.

Sillystripytail · 31/08/2022 16:55

I wrote and just like that, he's 1 on my SM 3 years ago for my DS birthday. Meh🤷‍♀️

WTF99 · 31/08/2022 16:56

If you know you know....
Oh bore off. I don't know and I don't care.

And.....today I'm mostly (insert tedious activity)...
Makes me feel evil 😈

katishot · 31/08/2022 22:28

"living my best life"

"making memories" YUK! Nope, you're just baking a cake with your kid which millions of parents over the generations have done without any need for instagraming/facebooking the entire procedure.

"Nom Nom" seems to have died the death, thank goodness. That was everywhere maybe 10 years ago.

mikado1 · 31/08/2022 23:54

Ha ha, these others have made me smile and the tone of the posts 😂

Carrie said it in the original SATC all the time, not a new thing!

The no panic comment was something I've seen and heard separately really. Eg I say 'I'll try to call you later' response: 'No panic' Eh? I'm not panicking. 🙊 I will acknowledge these gripes are probably terribly irrational 😂
I love you to the moon and back, v well known, doesn't bother me but I wouldn't post it on SM 🤔

"Happiest of birthdays to this one"
"Birthday cake of dreams"

It's all a new shit language tbh

Namechange285 · 01/09/2022 11:29

This thread has made me laugh a lot. Agree on all the above. 'I love you to the moon and back' just seems so overdone, like people who have artwork in their house saying 'Live, laugh, love' Each to their own though, maybe I'm a miserable old bat too Grin

katishot · 01/09/2022 11:37

artwork in their house saying 'Live, laugh, love'

I know loads of people who have this sort of thing
sleep bath cook etc
Why the need to explain what people do in each room?
Why not fuck shit piss or something instead?

Willowthewispy · 01/09/2022 11:39

Not on the socials so can't comment, but I have noticed at work if something happens people say "thems the breaks"

6coffeesbefore9am · 01/09/2022 12:14

I hate when people write 'and GO'. Makes me irrationally angry and even if I have the information they need I won't comment.

Rosehugger · 01/09/2022 12:19

It seems like a perfectly normal phrase using perfectly normal words, and fairly succinctly in a four word phrase. I had no idea it came from SATC and I'm sure many other people who never got into that programme did either.

You could say the same thing using more words but why would you? I have never noticed or used the phrase but might start now due to this thread.

Rosehugger · 01/09/2022 12:25

It’s a book!! A lovely childrens book, “Guess how much I love you”. It’s one of my daughter’s favourites

I think the phrase "to the moon and back" existed long before the book. Google thinks Sam McBratney originated the phrase, I see, but that's because the pages are written by people who think their generation invented everything.

Ineedwinenow · 01/09/2022 15:32

Wow, I’ve never been called a miserable old bat before, thanks for that!!!

😆 do you happen to know if there is a miserable old bat club we could join

xogossipgirlxo · 01/09/2022 15:36

I never really paid attention to "and just like that". It annoys me though when friends of facebook post about themselves "mummy needed some good run/some well deserved chillout for mummy" etc. It's not like people know you by "mummy", you're Susie/Jenny/Kate.
