To be rational about death

Ok, so I'm going to try to explain this as best I can. It's been brought to my attention that I apparently have a strange outlook on life/death, so I'd love opinions!

My attitude is that I'm not scared of death. It happens to us all eventually and I try to live each day well/fully and embrace being alive rather than worrying about dying.

I find it difficult to empathise with people who are overly dramatic about death. For example, elderly relatives who dress like they're in their 20's with dyed hair and lots of makeup suddenly developing an irrational sense of their own mortality as people their age start dying.
It's a given. We all die and if you're in your 70's/80's , what do you eclecticism? We're not immortal!!!

I do think that it seems to be hitting people I know who are desperately clinging onto their youth a lot harder. Like the makeup, unnatural hair colour and this whole younger illusion has not prepared them mentally for the reality if their actual age...

From what I've seen, those people who live a more authentic life where they are happy in their own skin and aren't trying to be something they're not seem to be more at ease with the whole thing...

I don't feel my outlook is strange. I think it's realistic!

@Lemonsyellow I am so sorry you’re going through that. It’s understandable and 100% relatable up feeling that fear at 3am, Night times were the worst for me too when still processing that news. You are alone with all your thoughts and fears running through your head, and it’s unlikely you want to wake anyone up to talk or get comfort. I used to try and only talk to others online who were going through the same thing because i didn’t want to put those feelings onto my family and make them feel more scared and sad than they were already.

Good for you living life to the full and here in the moment, keep doing all those things that make you feel good and still like you, and enjoy your time. I hope you have as many years as is possible, and you fill that time with a lot of happiness, love and precious memories for you and your loved ones. Hugs 🤗 Flowers

I don't think it's strange that you don't fear death. Do you fear dying? Are you saying that you don't fear death at any age going forward or just when you reach old age? How would you react if you were you death would happen soon?

I don't want to stop living. I go through periods when I think about death, but I try to snap out of it as quickly as I can. It's the fear of the unknown, isn't it. One thing I hope for, is not to have to live with dying. I really hope my death is quick and not long.

Good for you. Wait until it is actually on the horizon and see how you feel then.
