Mouse on patio this morning

Spotted a mouse this morning on my patio so I banged on the window it ran off and then came back after a couple of minutes.
This went on around 5 times and I was quite surprised firstly that its daytime and second that it's an annoying little bastard mouse who won't go away.
First time I've seen one. No food or anything on patio of interest. It's also paving not a wooden one where they might live under. It's also very clear so I spotted it straight away.
I've kept the back door open all day over spring and summer.

How do people keep pests away from the house.

Some people should just live in higher story flats. We live with wildlife. It's not as if they are inside your house. YABU.

Don't trust the get a cat advice
Went on holiday recently - my (normally indoor) cat's favourite entertainment was to bring in a tiny shrew, chase it for a bit, then recline on the sofa watching me try to catch it or usher it back outside.

Here is my mouse deterrent. As you can see, he's vicious and poised for the kill 😂

Your cat! 😍😍😍

Woopzies

”Actually the first thing I thought of was the diseases spread by such vermin and how much from a hygiene perspective it is definitely not preferable to have them in the house.”

Looking at the state of the planet, I find it ironic when humans call other species “vermin”.
