To think this is a bit off in times when people will be choosing between food and heating?

I won't mention names. But this 'celeb' has 4.5 million followers.

Her latest post is as follows

'And our Utility Room is complete 🥲❤️ Those of you guys that have followed my crazy account since the start will know I've always dreamt of having a utility room... and never thought I'd ever have one but here she is? I still can't believe it! I get so excited to just come in here every evening, put a wash load on, fold clothes, hang up missing socks 😂 and stand on my Home Bargains step for absolutely no reason at all 😂'

I just think it's so distasteful since her following is largely accredited to a certain demographic, usually stay at home mums etc. many of which will feel so shit to see this. We can all control what we choose to click on but it just seems so irresponsible given her larger following and influence

Naming who it is, is against talk guidelines so my thread will no doubt be deleted now Envy

Oh come on WE all knew who you were talking about !

Sparklingbrook · 22/08/2022 12:15

Should she sell her 3 Alpacas too, and her chickens? Utility rooms are great, and it's good to have a nose at hers. I bet her BFF Stace has one too.

If SAHM's are choosing between heating and eating but have the time to scroll through Instagram and be upset about utility room, there are better ways they can spend their time and make some money - obviously with the logical exclusion, like carers.

Cheeselog · 22/08/2022 12:16

I’m by no means a fan of this person but the cost of living crisis is very much not having an equal impact on everyone and we shouldn’t expect people who are well off to pretend that they aren’t.

CanDo92 · 22/08/2022 12:17

sandpr · 22/08/2022 10:53

Again it isn't the utility room as such, just the way it's presented as 'our little journey and 'thank you all for sharing this journey with me'

I'm not hard up so I don't feel upset looking at these posts but due to her following, the (mostly women) will at large due to people about to go without food and the biggest cost of living crisis in years

So you are getting upset on behalf of other people?

That’s not healthy, do you maybe need to find a hobby?

Sparklingbrook · 22/08/2022 12:19

Is it like second hand upset feeling sorry for people but not being in that position yourself?
I am sure all of Mrs H's followers follow her because they want to see her Home Bargain hauls, or her utility or whatever.

Lcb123 · 22/08/2022 12:21

If someone doesn't like it, they can not follow. Personally I think getting excited about a utility room is pretty sad...

Exactly and she's thanking them for it coz without the followers she wouldn't get the ad revenue etc to pay for it.

It's got a fancy sink and a step

jobbr · 22/08/2022 12:23

Obviously Mrs H who is an awful person for so many reasons.

I don’t agree completely with the unfollowing comment - of course you should unfollow, but SM is scientifically addictive, you’re being fed it everywhere, her face is in the supermarkets… it’s toxic and I can’t stand her or those like her.

Sparklingbrook · 22/08/2022 12:24

When you have never had one then you get one that's pretty exciting. No more laundry in the kitchen and a sink to wash the pets' bowls up in. Grin

converseandjeans · 22/08/2022 12:24

I must admit I'm baffled as to why she is so popular & what she actually does?

I find the Stacey Solomon thing a bit strange too - the way they always comment on things the other one is doing?

However if companies are prepared to pay her for posting their products then fair play to her. Anyone could do the same as I'm pretty sure she isn't from a rich background.

fufflecake · 22/08/2022 12:25

@converseandjeans She cleans things with zoflora

Really? Are people not allowed to have 5 minutes scrolling on insta then? For what it's worth when I was a stay at home mum, I did that before bed after a busy day

Honestly

I like the step. www.homebargains.co.uk/products/18381-loft-range-folding-step-stool.aspx

Hillrunning · 22/08/2022 12:26

It's just an advert by an influencecer. do you get upset at other forms of adverts?

BiFoldIsT · 22/08/2022 12:26

Why does everyone suddenly need to be offended or ‘disgusted’ or upset on other people’s behalf?
Can people not manage their own mental health and well-being anymore?

girlmom21 · 22/08/2022 12:27

@sandpr of course you can have 5 minutes scrolling, and if you're a SAHM of a 2 year old or younger I get it, but older than that there's no reason you can't work part time as a minimum if you don't have additional caring responsibilities

sandpr · 22/08/2022 12:27

MiauzenKatzenjammer · 22/08/2022 12:10

If I put a packet of Asda smart price pasta in my Range Rover, and brag about my overall car, does that still mean I'm not bragging? Same principle applies`

What principle? Are you trying to run your car on pasta? Seriously, let us know if that works.

You're being deliberately obtuse. I don't know if it was you or someone else who made the comment that she's hardly bragging if it's a Home Bargains step - she isn't bragging about the step ffs and you know it

Saviour types like to do it. Usually it concerns the people currently discussed in news.
Poor
specific situations creating refugees (not all. No one goves a fuck about Venezuela or Yemen eh)
A celebrity
A person if current interest such as ill person making news
And so on.

It will be someone else next week 🤷🏻

converseandjeans · 22/08/2022 12:28

@fufflecake well I use zoflora too maybe I'll start a page see if I can get some followers. Might be easier than teaching 😉

Fair play to her I say. I'm the silly one who works long hours for rubbish pay.

MorrisZapp · 22/08/2022 12:29

Honestly don't go on Rightmove, people there have gardens, spare rooms, driveways, all sorts. Ban it I say!

Go for it. You need a niche though. Maybe how to use zoflora in the classroom?

Surely those who follow her do want to know about her 'little journey' though, or they wouldn't be following her? I have managed to go through life with no more than the vaguest knowledge that Mrs Hinch is someone who's built a career round enjoying cleaning. That is of no interest to me, so I don't look at anything that would tell me more.
