Do you find it good

OP posts:

Liked it but not so much anymore, find sellers take far to long to post, some up to a week before they bother to send it! (eBay usually people are very quick and send next day) so I know if I buy on vinted I will be waiting ages for it, also lots of things seem to get cancelled even after you ask if it’s still available and they say yes, that’s happened a few times now. Someone cancelled a top I bought as she said RM was charging her too much to send it and if I want to purchase it again I can but select a different courier, I decided not to.

RaininginDarling · 20/08/2022 11:16

Thanks @Cantanka I'll take a look.

The issue I have with eBay is that I would rather tick options I know I don't want (cold shoulder for example) rather than limit my search to specifics I do - as many sellers don't add relevant details.

OceanbreezeSun · 20/08/2022 11:17

I’m a fan. After some initial teething issues, I now use it all the time.

I pretty much buy all my toddlers clothes from Vinted (mainly Zara stuff but also some M&S/H&M bits too) I recently bought dcs Autumn jacket, a lovely lightweight padded one from Zara, £3.00. It looks new tbh.

I have also just bought some maternity jeans and a couple of T-shirts. The jeans have been worn twice and were £1.00!

I’ve sold quite a lot on it too, mostly it’s been a positive experience.

The only gripe I have is it can be quite frustrating getting a meaningful/helpful reply from customer services - I had an issue a month back and just got sent the same automated message. It took 4 weeks to sort out, in the end, myself and the buyer dealt with it away from vinted, they just took too long.

barbrahunter · 20/08/2022 11:20

I've bought and sold quite a bit on Vinted and I like it. Because the money is only released to the seller after you confirm you received the item and it's ok, it makes it much easier to get your money back.

I've found Vinted is like Ebay used to be before all the professional sellers moved in, it seems smaller and friendlier .

Hoppinggreen · 20/08/2022 11:20

I keep hearing people rave about it but when I look there is nothing I would want

Lamentations · 20/08/2022 11:27

Yes it's brilliant. So much better than eBay to buy and sell. Be warned it's a rabbit hole like no other - costs me a fortune.

Do you search for brands you like? I'm not sure you could just open it up and find something. It lets you follow brands and filter your sizes so it shows you a more curated selection.

DonnieDark · 20/08/2022 11:31

I have got some great things for next to nothing, so I was happy at the start.

Seller of my most recent purchase didn't post my order, wasn't responding, then the order automatically cancelled. I still wanted the item so I messaged the seller again - was told I could buy it again through a new listing for less money, so I did. It wasn't sent again and i got some nonsense story about someone dying so she didnt know when she could send it. Then said she was sending that day, still nothing. She was asking how to use InPost, again sounding like she had it ready to go.

I hung on because I really wanted the item but I'm never going to get it 😕

KILM · 20/08/2022 11:31

I love it, as i switched over from Depop after getting annoyed that the dropship/chinese production sellers were flooding some of the popular brand tags (like & Other Stories) with their mass produced club wear.
I think its better quality stuff however i do like depops brand filter better - on Depop if you search for example 'womens dresses > size 14' the brand filter then shows how many items under each brand like 'New Look 143 Monsoon 96 Next 54' but Vinted doesnt do this, you can serch for a brand and its only after you've searched you discover there are no listings for your search under that brand.
However i have had a few cancellations of orders - out of 20ish orders ive had 3 be cancelled - one where the seller claimed to discover her relative had taken the top, then two where they just didnt send it, although at least on Vinted if that happens you get an automatic refund.

Nodancingshoes · 20/08/2022 11:34

I sorted my wardrobe and put lots of unwanted things on. Made about £100 which was brilliant - it was all just high street stuff. I've found it very easy and stress free

Redsharks · 20/08/2022 11:37

I absolutely LOVE vinted, buy all of my, baby's and older DD's clothes from there and sell on there too which I find helps me in this climate like my clothing without breaking the bank. It feels very cost effective to buy a bundle from someone.

My only negative experience was someone missed something from my bundle, I enquired about this and got NOWHERE. Vinted didn't help and the person swore she'd put it in when I swore she hadn't. Was frustrating but over a £2 item I just accepted and moved on!

JennyForeigner · 20/08/2022 11:40

Gorgeous cos dress arrived this morning. Cost <£10.

I buy all outer clothes from vinted/few from eBay now, including for 3 kids.

Blossomandbee · 20/08/2022 11:40

I've bought and sold a few things. Had an issue with one purchase and got an almost instant full refund from Vinted.
It's very easy to buy and sell. I like that they work out the postage costs for you and it's all prepaid by the buyer at purchase. Lots of drop off points for different couriers is much easier than the days of trekking to a post office.
I'm finding stuff very slow to sell though, lots of people 'favouriting' but no one buying. The few bits i've sold I've accepted low cheeky offers on just to get rid. It's all good brands, some BNWT and not priced high.

Sorry, this should have been 'cost <£10'

It's been awful for me! Bought three things across the first two weeks I downloaded it and two of them ended up being refunded because the seller never posted the items. So in that respect, the app was good, but the sellers are a bit shit!

CaptainMerica · 20/08/2022 11:47

I've had a quite a few bargains, a few misses (holes, wrong size, clearly shrunk in wash, stinking of smoke), and maybe 30% where the seller just ignores it. I am starting to wonder if they are vinted bots, designed to hold your money for a few weeks.

I think the average price per decent item would be more expensive than buying new. I like the idea of reusing things though... so still have it on my phone.

Seems very common if I buy 10 things half will be cancelled 🤦🏻

I think this is because Vinted is usually sent via courier. Drop offs for some couriers eg Evri/Yodel are sometimes not close for people - I know my nearest drop offs for both are around 20 miles away so I usually wait a couple of days to coincide it with another trip to that town.

drpet49 · 20/08/2022 11:52

Scammers paradise. There has been quite a few threads about this recently about people not receiving their money from sold items.

Vinted’s money back guarantee isn’t worth the paper it is printed on.

bakehimawaytoys · 20/08/2022 11:57

It's much better for sellers than buyers in my experience.

whatwhhat · 20/08/2022 12:12

I like it and buy a lots of kids clothes on it. I haven't sold anything so can't comment on that.

I prefer it to eBay as you don't have to wait to see if your bid wins you just pay the price they've put on. Also I think the pictures are clearer so you can check the quality a bit more from them (but that could be my phone issue).

I think I've had two items that the sellers didn't send but they automatically got a bad review.

My children have beautiful wardrobes which I would only be able to afford second hand so it works for us!

skyeisthelimit · 20/08/2022 12:13

I started selling on vinted last year and made over £400 in about 7 months which I put towards a holiday. I sell everything cheaply just to clear it out of the house and make a bit while doing it.

I have sold clothes, toys, books, toiletries, jewellery. I have put together bundles of odds and ends of makeup and toiletries, bits left over from gift sets etc, and it has all sold.

If things get favourited a lot, I will reduce the price, as they will get a message from vinted telling them that the price has dropped. If I have a lot of items on at £1 and they are not selling, then I put a discount on for buying multiple items.

Selling at the right time of year helps too, so put school clothes on in July/August, and coats on in September and swimsuits on in April and so on. Get those Halloween outfits on in early October.

You have a certain number of days to send the item, I think it is 5, but then the courier companies can sometimes take a long time to deliver. I have bought a few things from vinted and one thing took over 3 months to arrive, by which time I had received a refund from vinted.

Decent stuff sells quickly. I don't charge high prices as I just want it gone and even a £1 is £1 more than you would have by giving it away, but anything worth more I will sell for more than £1. Brands sell well , like Harry Potter, Disney etc, and branded labels of course.

I have sold bundles of 10 books for £3 and things like that. Because they pay for the postage, it makes the whole system so easy. (They only pay the seller the postage if you use RM but I don't offer that as an option any more as it creates more work).

on the whole, as a seller it is great. It is so quick and easy to upload photos, and then pack up and drop at the local shop. It was all worth it when I transferred the money to my bank account Grin.

Annigolden · 20/08/2022 12:15

Only just started using it. Listed 10 items and they all sold in 24 hours!

doubt I’d buy anything though.

Greenfrog78 · 20/08/2022 12:21

Bought loads. Not sure how to sell and post through evri. If it's better to post to buyers address or take to local drop off. Does buyer pay seller postage or does vinted?

userhjf67 · 20/08/2022 12:32

I've been using it to buy and sell and have only had positive experiences, I brought a couple of thing that arrived clearly used and grubby where listed as new but I just clicked the button saying I had a issue, uploaded a picture and vinted refunded me within minutes
