Getting that NQR feeling about a guy but ignoring it?

HarryPotterDucks · 19/08/2022 18:36

I’ve meet a guy. Things are pretty dry at the moment and I’ve built it up to what I want it to be.

When I first meet him there were a few red flags and I’ve had the feeling something is not quite right.

i should go with my gut instead of ignoring it. I’ve got slim pickings at the moment which is why I think I’m still messaging him.

Anyone ever ignore the red flags and it all ended happy after?

I doubt a Sky electrical engineer would even make £100k pa. The avg salary of a surgeon is calculated from a range of newly qualified to experienced surgeons. Add a private practice and remuneration would be considerably more. £250k is not impossible depending on the area of specialism eg a top plastic surgeon would make mega bucks.

wheresmymojo · 19/08/2022 19:42

I'm so confused - is he an electrical engineer or a surgeon?

oh give me a break.....you want to have kids with a man you don't feel you can trust?

Amen! What a horrible decision. Who wants to actively chose a poor father? Do you want to live on this site asking for advice about a bad father?

SavingsThreads · 19/08/2022 21:09

Surgeons don't earn £200k 😂

Divebar2021 · 19/08/2022 21:15

Why his try salary relevant ? Is it a test of his honesty or are you just weighing up his potential for future child support.

EmergencyHepNeeded · 19/08/2022 21:20

How would he know how much a surgeon earns? Why is he telling you how much he earns? Is he just showing off? Does he put his money where his mouth is?

QWE96 · 19/08/2022 21:25

There's some really weird posts on Mumsnet at the moment.

OP: Man I'm dating is giving me weird vibes. Shall I ignore these, so I can have kids with him because of my biological imperative? I won't have sex with him though because I know this isn't a situation to bring children into, but I need to have children and it might work out.

What advice do you want? He's creeping you out, trust your instinct and get rid. But you know this.

DarkDarkNight · 19/08/2022 21:35

I would get the ick from a man who boasted about earning more than a surgeon. Looking up someone’s pay scale and boasting you earn more is pretty immature.

leeds2glasgow · 19/08/2022 21:35

Wtf is wrong with you?

RagzRebooted · 19/08/2022 21:39

Yeah just, no...

Comeagainow · 19/08/2022 21:44

How are you supposed to have children with him is you won’t have sex with him?

Anyway, besides the point. You know you need to dump him. So do it.

HRTQueen · 19/08/2022 21:46

You are asking yourself should you ignore red flags

doesn’t that concern you that you are asking that ?

you don’t need a man if you just want sex go on tinder or just be single

HRTQueen · 19/08/2022 21:49

Sorry just read about biological clock ticking

just move on from this guy

katkit · 19/08/2022 21:50

Christ this is terrifying… please do not have kids with someone who gives off red flags. Do not. Don’t. You have no idea how bad things can get.

not easy to escape when you have newborn around.

stayinghometoday · 19/08/2022 21:52

Do you even know what his job is?

I'd say go for the sperm donor. How old are you? Because I've read posts here before of women who claimed their time was running out at age 28 😂😂😂.

YerWanIsGettinNotions · 19/08/2022 21:59

The "delivery company" has a huge tech arm and a logistics arm.

If he works for AWS and he’s a software engineer, then yes he probably makes more than a surgeon - most of them make less than £100k. AWS offers really good progression as well for those roles.

Tech pays well if you have the skills.

Why would this man work for Sky?

It's clearly Amazon

mycatisannoying · 19/08/2022 22:03

This has disaster written all over it.

Grumpusaurus · 19/08/2022 22:30

Don't think you should have children OP. You haven't even learned about basic safe guarding. You sound like the kind of woman who would neglect your child's needs just so you are with a bloke.

Sunnyqueen · 19/08/2022 22:39

Do not ignore your gut. Abort mission. Find someone else or use a sperm donor.

You've met him once and are thinking of having kids with him even though he's clearly giving off danger signals?? Were you bored last night and had nothing better to do than make up some weird AIBU??

Stath · 20/08/2022 11:12

@HarryPotterDucks Have you not considered using donated sperm?
