To find Linda Evangelistas vogue shoot a bit bonkers

Obviously most people are vain to a certain degree but she’s had her face pinned back with tape and wires for this new vogue cover shoot because of the damage a cosmetic procedure has done to her body

I guess none of us want to see ourselves in a negative light either but these pics are a bit bonkers. She’s taped her neck and face up and it’s also been photo shopped and she’s completely covered up!

she’s a beautiful woman regardless of the procedure that went wrong but she’s also 57 and getting older- stuff like this just reinforces false ideas of beauty and ageing. I know the fashion industry is totally fake anyway.

i mean if it makes her feel better then all power to her but it just feels really extra bonkers!

Sorry not buying it! Lots of my friends without her massive advantages have changed career path in their 40s and are thriving. Come on!

I’ve now realised that I liked her as a supermodel because she gave off an air of not giving a crap, and her short hair and amazing eyes made her look kind of rebellious. Of course I don’t know her at all and totally projected that onto her. But now I do feel really dismayed that she seems to care so much about not looking perfect (in her view) because I’d imagined her being a cool, no-shits-given older woman.

and yes plenty of models have different careers later on - acting, writing, tv presenting, fashion design, or just something completely different. And some do continue to model into old age. With the money will have made she could have a go at anything.

I’ve never concerned myself with so-called super models. I do like Kate Moss’s look but she has clearly had pretty good work done. Naomi Campbell, however, is intolerable. The others are meh.

The other one I did like is Helena Christensen who has done loads of stuff and is a photographer, campaigner and businesswoman now.

When I say “like’ I mean l liked their look and style, agree most of them were less interesting. It was a weird phenomenon when you think about it.

Christiansen is an established photographer and does a lot for charity. That I admire far more than this. Obviously has more to her than her looks - Linda in the other hand…

It was the 90s, an absolutely horrible decade. "Waif look" and "heroin chic", no irony. On one hand, the Wonderbra, on the other, the Minimiser, aka the Splat Your Boobs Across Your Chest. Eating disorders out the wazoo, lads' mags and inflatable furniture.
