To find Linda Evangelistas vogue shoot a bit bonkers

Obviously most people are vain to a certain degree but she’s had her face pinned back with tape and wires for this new vogue cover shoot because of the damage a cosmetic procedure has done to her body

www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/article/linda-evangelista-british-vogue-interview/amp

I guess none of us want to see ourselves in a negative light either but these pics are a bit bonkers. She’s taped her neck and face up and it’s also been photo shopped and she’s completely covered up!

she’s a beautiful woman regardless of the procedure that went wrong but she’s also 57 and getting older- stuff like this just reinforces false ideas of beauty and ageing. I know the fashion industry is totally fake anyway.

i mean if it makes her feel better then all power to her but it just feels really extra bonkers!

She looks her age. She's gained weight and therefore lost her facial definition.

I never found her look attractive though nor kate moss. Helena and cindy, brooke shields, claudia and Tyra banks were and are breathtaking

Cam22 · 19/08/2022 15:54

POI:

The word “deformed” was the word she herself used to describe what had happened to her.

Minoloso · 19/08/2022 16:08

I’m on the fence with this. She clearly (from this pic) looks like her jawline is deformed. I guess she had some sculpting there that went wrong as well as on her body. But honestly if she hadn’t said anything I’d just have thought she had aged. Being beautiful is a double edged sword. Not so great when it fades.

@Blossomtoes - I found a 2014 photo of her, before she had the botched surgery. She didn’t look very different from the way she does now, then she just looked liked an older woman who had gained a lot of weight since her modelling days. Now she looks the same but her jawline is saggier.

The “before and after” photos that I found at first are old photos of her when she was young, not what she looked like before the surgery.

Ellami · 19/08/2022 16:15

I’d have respected her ‘braveness’ more if she had insisted on showing her true likeness, which is still absolutely beautiful. In the paparazzi pics she simply looks like a maturing woman who has put on a little weight. Was the cool sculpting even on her face?

SeussABC · 19/08/2022 16:15

There we are. Yes, there is a difference and her face looks worse after the procedure that was supposed to remove fat. But I don’t think she looks dramatically different- and if she has gained more weight since then that will have added to her chin.

radaronline.com/exclusives/2014/04/linda-evangelista-botox-injections-no-makeup/ yes in 2014 she didnt look much different to now and that was 8 years ago. It's ageing and weight gain.

Charlize43 · 19/08/2022 16:30

As a 55 year old woman, Linda's doing none of us any favours.

It's about time the fashion industry started representing women as they are.

Anon778833 · 19/08/2022 16:52

I’m a therapist who has done extensive training for 3D Lipo, which I think is the same technology as Cool sculpting. It’s supposed to work by destroying the fat cells, either through freezing them or shaking them hard so that they collapse and then you wee them out.

At no time, was I ever made aware that if the procedure goes wrong it can result in what happened in this case. So I can well believe that Linda Evangelista wasn’t told the risks. It’s very concerning.

Rosehugger · 19/08/2022 14:13

I think if she just lost a bit of weight in the usual way, she'd look the same as she did a few years ago- not the same as she did in her twenties but she would look as good as she did for the rest of her fifties.

In the article, she does say that she reached a point where she was eating nothing and still had all these bulges.

StellaGibson2022 · 19/08/2022 17:12

I think it’s all a bit shallow but then again I loved the 90s super model thing.

To me she looks as though she has just put in on weight but I’m not dismissing that she her experience is traumatic for her not least because she was paid for her looks.

I think Vogue could have been more supportive by featuring her as her now, not covered up. Procedures go wrong it happens but as a society we should be accepting and supportive of that. As others have said people are adjusting to life with really awful things having happened to them.

I would go so far as to say Linda probably needs real therapy in addition to a Vogue photo shoot; possibly some type of dysmorphia that led to the procedure in the first place.

Also you can tell Kate Moss has had lots of tweaks

ReneBumsWombats · 19/08/2022 17:28

Why would that be supportive? It doesn't seem to be what she wanted.

IcedPurple · 19/08/2022 17:31

Popsicle33 · 19/08/2022 14:18

I admire her honesty. At least she's admitting that it's all bollocks and fake. At least she's got her millions to keep warm. I do remember reading how she and Naomi Campbell (another charmer) used to secretly laugh at 'fat ugly women' who asked for autographs etc. Karma and vanity got her back.

But is she being 'honest' because it all went wrong? If Coolsculpting had 'melted away the fat' and she'd looked skinny and youthful again, would she have been decrying the horrors of the beauty industry? The same industry that made her a millionaire?

I've always loved Linda as a model. Not the greatest classic beauty of 'les supers', but the most versatile and photogenic. But I've never thought much of her and her "$10,000 a day" line. Live by the sword, die by the sword I guess.

Blossomtoes · 19/08/2022 17:34

She wouldn’t have agreed. Even her son never sees more of her than her face, hands and feet. She’s never not covered up.

ReneBumsWombats · 19/08/2022 17:44

would she have been decrying the horrors of the beauty industry?

Is she decrying the industry in general? I thought she was just complaining that she hadn't been made aware of the risks of this procedure?

Cam22 · 19/08/2022 17:49

Karma indeed. I don’t feel in the least bit sorry for her. She was vapid - as all those people are - and now she is fat and ugly as well. Oh dear.

Hintofreality · 19/08/2022 17:52

Linda Evangelista has always been a bit bonkers. Do have a soft spot for her though because of that don’t get out of bed for less then £10k quote.

I bet you throw the best Christmas parties. The love and goodwill radiates off the screen.

MarshaMelrose · 19/08/2022 18:16

The picture on People magazine shows the real texture of her skin. She's nearly 60 and her skin looks it. But she looks fine. But what is the point of the Vogue photoshoot? If they're just going to photoshop faces, why have models at all? Why not just do cgi? It's as if we've gone back centuries in time and people ordered painters to make their portrait look beautiful, when, in fact, they looked like the back end of a hansom cab.

ReneBumsWombats · 19/08/2022 18:25

That's a whole new question on the philosophy of art.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 19/08/2022 18:31

I wonder how helpful it is for her to appear taped/covered/paintbrushed so she looked like a younger version of herself, rather than appear more naturally and coming to terms with what her face looks like now.

In all honesty she doesn’t look ”deformed”, she just looks like a normal 50 odd year old woman. However I can imagine it is quite distressing looking very different to how you did before especially when you have been used to loll being especially stunning your whole life.

That shows her up for the airhead and attention seeker she clearly was - and judging by this Vogue nonsense, still is.

ReneBumsWombats · 19/08/2022 18:36

As we all well know, she's nearly 60 so she can decide for herself what's helpful. I actually think it probably is therapeutic for her to continue doing her job and selling magazines and being part of beautiful pictures, even if they are highly edited. It'll stop her from feeling useless and washed up.

Unattractive people often get glamorous photos taken to help with self esteem, even if they know they don't really look like that.
