Moving a child away from the bottom of the slide

I was on the playground with my DD. There was a little boy who I moved out of the way a couple of times, because he was standing at the bottom of the slide and others were coming down. I did ask him to move, but he didn't, so I gently moved him.

I also did the same to my DD a few times.

Is that OK ? I'm paranoid it's super out of line. The mum was nearby but she was sitting down chatting, so she didn't see that he could have been hurt by another child coming down. She saw me do it and didn't seem do mind. I absolutely wouldn't mind if another adult did that to my children.

Opinions ?

I wouldn’t have moved him. In this situation I tell dd to play on something else

If he won't move when asked thne allow your daughter to come down the slide, he'll soon shift and maybe his mother would start paying him some attention

Absolutely fine. I've done it before. I also grabbed a little girl the other day. She was running full tilt towards the swimming pool, her mum was chasing her and wouldn't have reached her in time.

I once ran to grab a very small child whose toy buggy had been blown into the road by a sudden gust of wind, the mother was about 30 m behind, on her phone of course. However, she started to give me a mouthful and continued until someone else intervened to tell her to shut up.

No I would give them a fair amount of time to move out of the way. My eldest always waits for the bottom of the slide to be clear but I will say its fine to do down the slide if this other child just stands there for too long.

Tuh. You're nicer than me. I bellowed down a slide at a gaggle of children to 'move it' at a fun fair, a few months back. They scattered in every direction. Job done.

Literally no one noticed or cared. Of course you were right to move him. We don't all have to make a massive drama of every small human interaction.

Absolutely this. Total non-issue.

You and I would get on 😄
