Jade got used as scapegoat like Victorian said, becasue it was classed as more "politicly correct" why is it you here some much more of a white person being rasist than any other person? likes its somehow more shocking?? When i was at school i was bullied for being white by 3 asian girls fro 3 YEARS non stop it was reported and report and reported to teh school by myself and other people and the min i turned round and said something back i was expelled!!! its all about playing th erace card 99% of teh time in my opinion

Nobody was outraged or helped me on a night out a few years ago, in a supposedly "nice" town when I wiped the stinging spittle from my eye as a charming young man let me know how offended he was with my choice of (black) husband by gobbing on me and calling me a Paki Lover (WTF?).

It's the fact that people find it entertaining that a load of morons go into a house for three months, bicker and argue and shag and drink and then come out and expect to have careers that I find sad. And the more people watch these freak shows, the more freaks will go on them and will become celebrities at the end of it all.

the racism angle has been argued to death.. IMO she was racist. telling her to go home, calling her shilpa poppadum, liek shetty is so hard to pronounce comments about the way Indian people eat.. the other two girls were appaling, just not quite as aggresive. white trash is deeply unpleasant too... but in the USA, it is not a racist term, but a descriptive one, the same way chav is used here.

as betterhalf said, it was the ugliness of her aggression that was the most foul thing about her behaviour, leaving aside what she actually said.

making pejorative comments about a persons culture and heritage is racist, no? 'go home' is so absolutely racist, it is just not even worth arguing about . IMO.

at the end of the day she is ignorant and holds repugnant view points, whether or not we agree they are racist.

i absolutely accept that there can be racist black/ asian/ indian people. not just white people who can be racist. in this partic. instance it was a white person.

not that anyone is denying racism can be perpertrated by anyone of any skin colour etc.

i think n*gger is accepted as a pejorative word here and in the USA.

it is a complex issue, at the end of the day neither jade nor the other two showed themsleves in a very edifying light.

I think it's a hard one to call personally, There is a form of racism in Jades ignorance toward Shilpa, and I don't think she intended racism, but in some ways that can be worse than intended racist slurs, the ignorance can be more painful.

The same goes for the 'go home' comments, none of the were home, so she could have said to anyone to 'go home' and it wouldn't have been deemed racist. Especially as Shilpa went on and on about how she had never met people blah blah blah so it could have been meant 'go home back to those people then', whatever, we'll never know what went on in Jades head when she said it, but I still think the way she was hounded was just as bad, if not worse than anything she said.

personally i don't think that jade is explicitly a capital R Racist person, however she did inexcusably bully Shilpa Shetty and when doing so relied on racist stereotypes and insults.

which means that i think she behaved in a racist way. now as it happens i think that makes her racist, but it's not cast in stone, she could educate herself out of it. not that she appears to have done, though...
