Hairdressers prices

I've stopped going to my hairdresser as she charges me £22 to have snippets off my ends and wants £140 for highlights.
Does anyone else think this is expensive.

£22 for a trim seems reasonable. I pay about £50 for a cut and blow dry! I don't have highlights so can't comment on that.

FredaFox · 14/08/2022 19:51

I pay £160 for cut/trim and colour

GrazingSheep · 14/08/2022 19:52

How long does it take to trim the ends?
Does it include a wash and blow dry?

Thebig3 · 14/08/2022 19:53

All depends where you are! I'm in the northwest and pay 75 for full head highlights, cut and colour.......but that is on the cheap side.

Sciurus83 · 14/08/2022 19:55

It's good salon prices, expensive but not unusual I would say.

Ducksallovertheplace · 14/08/2022 19:56

£22 for a trim is pretty cheap IMO

Thestoppedfan · 14/08/2022 19:57

My hairdresser charges £130 for a full head of highlights, toner, cut and blow dry including olaplex or £100 for half a head.

WildOats5678 · 14/08/2022 19:58

I’ve just paid £97 for a full head of highlights, cut and blow dry but I do think that the price your friend has given is expensive.

PatsyJStone · 14/08/2022 19:58

Up north & wouldn't expect to
pay more than £75 for cut & colour, unless going to a really upmarket salon when yes, could be over £100

ked89 · 14/08/2022 20:03

Depends where you are. I'm in London and a wash, cut and blow dry is around 50-60!

Derrymare · 14/08/2022 20:03

West midlands

Mine has just put their prices up by 30%.

LikeAStar1994 · 14/08/2022 20:05

I only pay £10 for my haircut. So that is expensive to me.

yonce · 14/08/2022 20:05

I pay similar to that - sometimes more / less depending on toners / treatments etc.

Don't forget you're not paying £22 just for that time of the hairdresser trimming your ends, you're paying for years of training and skill, the upkeep of the salon, insurances, products and then her wage. It sounds like a good price to me!

LikeAStar1994 · 14/08/2022 20:06

£22 being expensive I mean.

MistressWeatherwax1 · 14/08/2022 20:07

It depends where your hairdresser is. I'm £65 for a full head of colour and cut and it takes about 3 hours each time. If I was to get it done in the middle of Glasgow instead of out of town I'd easily be triple that.

Spanglybangles · 14/08/2022 20:09

Yep. I live in a small town and paid £25 for my daughter to get a back to school cut the other day.

BabyDreamers · 14/08/2022 20:10

Yes it's excessive. Ask her what your colour is and buy your own from a hairdressing shop called Sally's then ask a home hairdresser to do it. Will be much cheaper.

Longingforatikihut · 14/08/2022 20:28

£8.99 for a dry cut. Takes 20 minutes max.

Waitingforever123 · 14/08/2022 20:31

My hairdresser comes to my home and charges £10 for a dry cut. Have you tried a home hairdresser their overheads are obviously much lower?

Spanielsarepainless · 14/08/2022 20:32

I pay £20 for a dry trim. Never have colour so no idea about that.

surreygirl1987 · 14/08/2022 20:40

It is a lot of money but same as what I pay (Surrey)

CounsellorTroi · 14/08/2022 20:47

I pay £140 for cut, colour and highlights.

NannyGythaOgg · 14/08/2022 20:48

I have mine cut when on holiday in Turkey.

£10 to £15 for cut and blow by the owner/top stylist.

Of course flights and hotel add to the costs but - when I'm going anyway, why not

Wateringthegarden · 14/08/2022 20:49

I pay £150 for cut and colour.

But I appreciate that's pricy, however my hairdresser is the only one I've ever found who not only gives me blunt ends, but says it looks better than chopping in.

And he is very cool so the chat is top notch.
