Forgive me mumsnet, for I have sinned...

Lighthearted!

My sin: I went to a Wetherspoons whilst on holiday in England. Not once, but twiceBlush The food was great and I have 3 children with very restricted tastes in food. I'm the same so the menu suited us all. I feel bad about going there knowing the mumsnet consensus on the guy who runs Wetherspoons but it met our needs. I am a Catholic and feel like I need to say a few Hail Marys as a result.

What are your mumsnet sins?

I've left my washing out to be darked on

Me too! And no doubt spiders will drag their willies over it 🙄😂. We’re going straight to hell!

Passmethecrisps · 13/08/2022 23:45

My understanding is that spoons is a bit of a minimum wage, tax-avoiding shithole. If the press have been apologising for misinformation then this may not be the case. 🤷‍♀️

I'm laughing at all the scrumpled-up noses commenting on people smoking at home > HORROR! In front of their kids!!<

I do. 4 generations now.

I bet they all drive cars.

I don't.

I know its terrible Shock

imshapedlikeatoenail · 13/08/2022 23:46

I let my 1 year old have chocolate.

Tiredmum100 · 13/08/2022 23:47

I too, have been to spoons twice this week whilst on holiday. I currently have washing out on the line being darker on AND I've used the toilet brush today.

Didiplanthis · 13/08/2022 23:47

This thread makes me very happy 😊...we even go to harvester sometimes.... ive never cooked a chicken let alone made it do multiple meals. My washing sometimes gets darked on repeatedly as I've forgotten about it...I didnt even realise I was supposed to.wipe skirting board till i read it on here. Tunics and leggings are gods own clothing ....

I have 3 children who are pretty average at most things and have FAR too much screen time.

queenMab99 · 13/08/2022 23:47

I wash my bedding when I feel like it, and also leave it out overnight.
I also answer the door to anyone who knocks or rings, regardless of whether I am expecting anyone, I am starved of company and conversation, it makes me dangerously reckless😮

Smithy8001 · 13/08/2022 23:48

I don’t care if people bring siblings to parties.

What’s wrong with having a toilet brush?

Exactly!

I've never had a Wetherspoons

I eat any fruit and veg except broadbeans

Don't like hot tubs or baths (showers only)

Always get my washing in and never leave pegs on the line or own/use a tumble.

Love fish and chips. Hate mushy peas despite peas being my fave veg.

Love pontefract cakes

AboutDamnThyme · 13/08/2022 23:51

I love hot tubs and Wetherspoons tbh...all in moderation mind, and not at the same time!

Bonjovispjs · 13/08/2022 23:52

I love wetherspoons and I genuinely couldn't care less about the big bad bosses views.

Goodadvice1980 · 13/08/2022 23:52

Paddling pool 😱 in my defence the water was added days ago & it’s sterilised so it will last 👍👍

Justcallmebebes · 13/08/2022 23:53

Love a Spoons. Shoot me

Poppyseed14 · 13/08/2022 23:53

I have artificial grass and I love it!

Bagzzz · 13/08/2022 23:54
  • Toilet brush
  • have no children and am happy with that
  • no cleaning routine
  • eat ready meals including soup - I don’t own a blender
  • i prefer to speak by phone and I’ve never texted to say prearrange a call. Instead I rely on the other person to say that they are busy.
  • I believe in God and go to church
I’ll fit in some penance at mass tomorrow
Amybelle88 · 13/08/2022 23:54

Have a hot tub - love it.

One whole chicken is one meal for us.

I purposely put my washing out overnight if the weather is as hot as this.

I use a dishwasher.

I think Boden is absolutely shite with the naffest clothes I've ever seen in my life for a silly price tag.

InChocolateWeTrust · 13/08/2022 23:54

I've got an inflatable hot tub and I love it.

I buy most of my kids clothes brand new.

I have a toilet brush in both loos in my house and they get used frequently.

I once started a parking thread without a diagram.

I don't iron anything.

I only wash towels once a week.

MissConductUS · 13/08/2022 23:54

I'm an American.

Shergill15 · 13/08/2022 23:55

Washing currently being darked on. Cleaned toilet with a brush this morning. My biggest sins are probably being overweight and a non driver. I'd put my hair shirt on but it's outside with the spider willies😁

InChocolateWeTrust · 13/08/2022 23:55

Oh and even the most massive salad doesnt fill me up. Give me some lovely carbs any day

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 13/08/2022 23:57

Silverfinch · 13/08/2022 22:34

I used a toilet brush today

😂 Me too! I’m going use one tomorrow too.

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 13/08/2022 23:57

Ohh pffft, that's not a sin when as you say you have people who need to eat when out!
I might think Tim Martin is a massive dick politically but I still like the odd cheap cocktail or lunch!

Tiredmum100 · 13/08/2022 23:57

I should add, I also allow dc to eat a whole bag of haribo or chocolate in one sitting, they clean their teeth and are not over weight. Also both myself and dh do the school run together when we have annual leave..we both work full time so never get to do school pick up, apparently this means some mn need to cringe for me 🤷‍♀️. I also use a towel more than once. I use the tumble dryer sometimes. I can however make a chicken last two meals, a Sunday roast for 4 and left over chicken for a curry, and the carcass goes out for the foxes.

  1. Our source/buy in help
  2. Lower expectations.
  3. Accept some temporary personal sacrifices (I had very little time for myself in the worst years, but its paying off now as I have both the time and the money to spend on myself).
perenniallymessy · 13/08/2022 23:58

My washing is currently on the line and our two ensuite bathrooms (plus the other two toilets) have a loo brush next to the loo.

Haven't been to a Wetherspoon's in years!
