Bringing your sky TV and deep fat fryer camping

I am in France camping at the moment and there are 2 British families here in caravans with deep fat fryers, freezers, microwaves, sky tv, air con etc etc. They have it all set up outside their vans. One of them also has a god awful strip light too in their awning. They don’t walk around the site either but are just on their electric scooters.

Maybe I am a camping purist but what’s the point of having sky tv etc when you are in the great outdoors?! Surely the point of camping is to get away from it all & be in nature? Maybe that’s just me….they blast out sky news to the campsite in the morning too- it’s nearly driven everyone mad to be honest. Why not just stay in your house in the uk?

aibu? Or a camping snob!!!

Perhaps because camping is shit and boring after the first 2 hours?

Can’t stand camping snobs who think the closer you are to resembling stig if the dump, shitting in a hole and pretending staring at trees is fun, the more superior you are.

completely normal facilities you would expect to find in a carvan

I am intrigued, @Simonjt , do caravans honestly have satellite dishes or is this Sky TV via BB/WiFi ?

It will be the sky go app and the dongle or phone data . Not sure how op knows it's actually sky though unless she's been in and seen the viewing menus

Obvs you're a camping snob OP! So am I.

I don't give a F what other people take camping but please god don't let me end up next to the dicks with strip lights and the Sky TV.

I don’t mind what people bring with them, to each their own and all that. I personally decline to holiday anywhere I’m less comfortable than I am at home, so my campervan is set up with the same bedding, kitchen equipment etc as I use at home as far as possible. I drag enormous recliner chairs, a fridge-freezer, a microwave and coffee machine around with me. To me, the whole point of my campervan is that I can conveniently and comfortably visit new places taking my home comforts with me and not have to slum it with sleeping bags, warm tonic and instant coffee. I prefer quiet, natural campsites and nice views. Some people like entertainment and more of a ‘Hi de hi’ approach. I hope they have a blast, but it’s not for me.

BUT whatever you bring, it should not be audible beyond the bounds of your pitch. I loathe listening to other people’s music. Loathe it. Why the fuck should everyone else have to listen to your choice of music/tv/radio whether they like it or not? Playing and recreation is fine at reasonable levels and hours.
