Downstairs bog … I’m thinking it needs something on the bare wall but what? It’s a small room so don’t want anything too in your face. I was thinking one of those old fashioned “soap co.” Pictures (usually a picture of a cow in a bath or something!)

DH says it’s fine as it is.

AIBU to think it needs something on the wall?

I would go totally minimalist. Paint walls and woodwork brilliant matt white. Take out the plant and the ducks and anything else you don't need. There is nothing better than a lovely white cloakroom kept pristine clean. (Which is so much easier if there isn't any extraneous stuff in there.)

Needs some more green... I'd put up a little wooden shelf with three small green plants, maybe in black and white geometric pots?!

This was my first thought .
It's a really lovely cloakroom but a little sterile at the moment .

Pleiades2020 · 10/08/2022 12:50

Some more toilet roll 😀

On a more serious note just a plant stand for the plant and a couple of small pictures maybe.

Bathroom twins!! 😂 that’s the kind of pic I was thinking of! We must be related?! Where was that from?

I think it was from Etsy and I got the frame in Dunelm. If you Google ‘Don’t forget to wipe’ it will come up with options. To be honest I wasn’t overly chuffed with the quality of the print but once it was framed it looked ok.

What about this?

You could spend a lot of time cutting out pictures and borders and sticking them on the walls. Like I did. I like it!

Your floor is beautiful!
I would not add pictures because it's a small room, but I think your colour scheme is wrong, too plain. I would add a bright coloured wallpaper to jazz it up (attempting to include an image as an example here). Then move the plant onto the windowsill and move the bath ducks into the bathroom.

My down stairs loo is a very similar size to yours. I went for a busy wall paper.

I love your floor too! I'm getting floor inspiration from this thread. Floorspiration?

PantyMcPantFace · 10/08/2022 13:44

Browny-yellow Giraffe print? Bring your ducks/yellow and if you like giraffes?

And yes, move the plant up.....looks like a place to aim for boys weeing......

We have similar floor tiles to you. We have black panelling in place of your tiles with a white upper bit and it does look amazing but we have black taps too so it all goes together. Big mirror and then photo collage thing so people have stuff to look at when they are on the bog!

Ha ha! I like your style.

Have you been on Pinterest yet? Type in grey cloakroom ideas and you gets lots of pics of very similar rooms to give you inspiration.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 10/08/2022 13:48

A couple of little shelves behind the loo, under the fan? Maybe a hanging plant in the corner?

It can be. But we did once live in a house that had a proper room for coats that we called the cloakroom!

Lots of insta tosspots people have "boot rooms"!!

OperaStation · 10/08/2022 13:50

More cloaks.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 10/08/2022 13:52

Colour. Whether that be a blind, a plant, a rug, a picture, towels, or whatever. It just looks a bit bland at the moment.

Stath · 10/08/2022 14:09

This wallpaper would look lovely with the tiles. And it’s amazingly cheap yet looks expensive:

Loo is the word. A cloakroom is where outdoor clothing is hung.

giffyg · 10/08/2022 14:37

some coloured wall prints (not just yellow)

giffyg · 10/08/2022 14:38

yes to a blind & a shelf for the plant

Maybe a wall covered in favorite family and travel photographs, stuck on with bluetac

In all honesty I think the wall colour is wrong (sorry). It's a really cold grey. I'd switch to more of a griege- f and b skimming stone as an example. I'd then put a couple of large prints in black frames to tie in with the floor.
It's a lovely room!

This !

I have a very similar shaped room and a large print of the Japanese wave in a black frame on what would be your bare wall. Ties into the floor well and drags the room together nicely.

mandolinwind · 11/08/2022 11:53

If you are looking for an idea for storage for loo rolls:

I have chrome and black hooks screwed onto the inside of my downstairs loo door and bathroom door (use the special rawl plugs if your doors are hollow). From these I hang string shopping bags - the sort that Handmaidens use to carry fruit back from the market - like these:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363684864949?hash=item54ad4ea3b5:g:jcsAAOSwOgdh24tp

These take four loo rolls perfectly.

I have them in black and buy the ones with short handles. Some are being sold direct from China but you should be able to find UK based sellers, too.

I agree that a warmer grey, greige or a pale (but not minty) green would look nicer, plus more plants, a movie poster and a blind.
