How has this woman been missing for three weeks and we have barely had a sniff of it in the media. I hadn't seen anything at all until the last couple of days.

I don't believe that she has been found and can only hope this poor lady is found safe and well.

It very much sounds like a MH crisis. The fact she’s okay is the main thing. Let’s not have arseholey ‘waste of resources’ type comments.

SuperCamp · 23/08/2022 17:39

Who knows? Unless she was engaged in or subject to criminal activity it isn’t our business.

This is the ethical issue the police explained about why they don’t go to mass public appeals straight away in many cases, because it potentially compromises the privacy of the missing person.

The fact is, people are allowed to go missing / be out of contact. And sometimes their circumstances need to be protected.

In addition to the communication fuck ups by the police there is clearly more to this story than has been made public.

But I hope now she can get on with her life and her nursing training.

SpinCityBlues · 23/08/2022 17:43

Indeed. How many threads do we see on MN where a poster just wants to 'disappear' for a few days because they feel completely overwhelmed? I've seen plenty over the years. I think a lot of people know that feeling. If she had a friend who was there for her, I'm glad.

And yes, it's time for privacy and recovery now.

BringMeTea · 23/08/2022 17:50

So glad they have found her. All sounds very mysterious.

FrownedUpon · 23/08/2022 17:32

How strange. What a lot of worry and resources used up for nothing.

@FrownedUpon is that a joke? Is it only worth worry and resources if the person is found dead?

ShirleyPhallus · 23/08/2022 18:20

I’m so glad she’s been found. Confused as to how someone was charged for her murder though?!

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 23/08/2022 18:23

It seems really bizarre to me, why were 2 men arrested for murder and 3 for abduction then all released on bail?
Why when she was found was she in good heath yet the news kept saying she was in a highly distressed state and very vulnerable?
And found in Hampshire.

christmas2022 · 23/08/2022 18:26

So pleased to hear this is a happy ending. I hope this lady gets all the support she needs.

Were they actually charged with murder or arrested on suspicion of?
I expect there is a lot that's not being said about this case ,but the main thing is she's alive and well.

Obviously because the police thought she had been murdered, and thought they knew who'd done it

SummerNightsDriftingAway · 23/08/2022 18:31

There's something a little odd about this story:

"She looks in good health, she's in a place of safety, and not currently in the vulnerable state that we were led to believe she was in at the start of her disappearance."

bellabasset · 23/08/2022 18:37

I'm glad she's been found alive and well especially as people had been arrested. There's obviously a background to her disappearance that we're not aware of.

LakieLady · 23/08/2022 19:07

I'm so pleased she's ok, and hope she gets any support she may need.

I also hope the police have to get their act together when it comes to the way they deal with the missing.

Led to believe is a interesting thing to say.
Happy she's safe and well

Lipsandlashes · 23/08/2022 19:09

I’m in Herts and her story has been on the London news almost every night for several weeks.

Right thanks for that miss marple 🙄

SummerNightsDriftingAway · 23/08/2022 19:57

@Asdson2022 - yep, that was the bit of the wording that stuck out for me

I agree with this to an extent and sometimes hate to see the "so and so MISSING" headlines and missing person posters after a few days. People should be free to go off for a while or forever if that's what they want.

However, this story was all over the news and if it was a case of just wanting to be left alone for a while a simple message could have put everyone straight many weeks ago.

So I keep an open mind.

lljkk · 23/08/2022 20:36

I had a gut feeling she wanted to go under radar. Glad she's doing what she wants to.

Balhammom · 23/08/2022 22:54

Quirkyme · 23/08/2022 16:51

I'm so pleased she's been found and that her family don't have to sue their asses.

Sued for what? Doing their job?

Wonder if they’ll now need prosecuted for wasting police time?

Quirkyme · 23/08/2022 22:55

@Balhammom sued for their mishandling of Owami's case.

If you need more information about that, feel free to scroll up in this post or research further on the internet.

Goodnight.

Winniewonka · 23/08/2022 22:56

Glad to see that she is safe and well. I'm prepared to be corrected but regarding the wrong person being shown on CCTV, I always thought wherever possible that a family member has to confirm that is indeed the missing person being sought.

No one was charged.

My assumption from reading some of the press is that there were reasons that may have made it not initially obvious that she was missing and thus the case did not become a potential murder investigation until later. Unlike the Sarah Everard case where it was quickly established that she had been abducted.

That was.my understanding of the reports of the case too.
