What does your husband do that you just find so embarrassing? (Light hearted)

Had to run away from him today slapping watermelons in Sainsburys. It’s too much. Holds it right up to his ear and gives them a good slap until he finds the right one.

literally married the white version of my dad.

He also very loudly shouted “DO I KNOW YOU?!” When I have him a little hug in the queue… I hate being in public with him 🥲

Every time he sneezes he ends it with a half yodel. Drives me MAD!

like achoooo oo (high pitch) oo (low pitch)

he also puts his half inside out rolled up socks in the washing basket which means I have to unravel them until they’re flat so they dry.

I love him. But oh. my. god

Mine is hyper sociable, he lives to chat & make friends. Once I forced him to help me trim our front hedge & he literally flagged down a passing car to talk to them. He sang to a waitress today, because he ordered cockles for his starter. Our teenage sons go into spasms of cringe. I alternate between frustration and relief. I'm more introverted so he takes the pressure off me! He's charmed loads of people into doing us good turns and favours, mostly I imagine in the hopes that he'll go away & leave them alone Wink

You could be describing my DH. Talks. To. Everyone.

CarmSoprano · 30/07/2022 09:14

And the sock thing is embarrassing because my MIL always takes the piss!

she was over for a cuppa, sat in the garden last week as I sorted the laundry for pegging it out. He and I were ridiculed for his “sock balling” 🤣

He has no social skills whatsoever so when we are with friends he just drones on about stuff. He doesn’t seem to notice that he talks 90% of the time. Anyone else would think I’d best shut up now and let others speak, no not him and it’s all poncey stuff to try and look knowledgeable when he’s the dumbest person in the room.

So why/how were you attracted to him ?

MercuryOnTheRise · 30/07/2022 09:24

Two things
Gets in the car with his laces undone and then delays setting off whilst he ties them.
Doesn't even bother dealing with "trades" and has been known to say "there's no point explaining that to me, you need to speak to my wife".

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/07/2022 09:25

Ha I think he sounds like fun!

Me too!

HazelBite · 30/07/2022 09:48

For years he would come home from work (builder) get in the shower and dress in clean "working" clothes, which he would wear to work the next day.
He is now semi retired but still does this and finds it totally acceptable on a "at home" day to accompany me if I go out wearing holey and scruffy clothes. I have to make him change into a decent polo/tee shirt and jeans before we leave the house.
He came to pick me up from the doctors the other day in a paint and plaster splattered tee shirt and jeans, I cringed when I saw the receptionist staring at him.

He sounds thrillingly sexy Confused

He was lying down, taking photos of an unremarkable plant. In full daylight. Kids I know thought he was ill or something. (Or just strange) I was pretending I wasn’t with him.

Gods that’s the wrong post.

He wears Lycra for cycling Blush

MisgenderedPaul · 30/07/2022 12:06

Mine makes a very loud, strange noise when he sits down. It's got louder as he's got older.

imnotthatkindofmum · 30/07/2022 12:17

The work laugh on the phone if he takes a call at home. He also chats to clients about football. He hates football. It's like the episode of the IT crowd where they just say random football phrases and make some hooligan friends!

He has his 'gardening' clothes and his 'car' clothes. He has had the same clothes for as long as I can remember. He's put on a lot of weight when he was ill but they're still loose. Some are literally held together with duck tape. We had a delivery of manure at the allotment and his jacket was under it, he dug it out brushed it off and continued to wear it. I always say he's a cross between Compo and Wesley Pegden from Last of the Summer Wine but he makes Compo look smart. He actually turned up at the office I was working at to collect me in his garden clothes, me looking smart in my business suit talking to some senior staff and he wanders over looking like a scarecrow and gave me a hug.

This is what my dad is like.

He actually likes to dress smart for a party or whatever but the rest of the time he just wears garden or garage clothes. He was still wearing his (paint and oil stained) bell bottoms in the mid 80s and used to take us to town to the library in them every Saturday. I was always 10 steps behind 🤣

I bought him a new fleece to replace the holey one he wears everyday for Xmas. Took him a few months to accept it 🙄

FuckingHateRats · 30/07/2022 12:34

Goes to the supermarket in his slippers 🙈

Ha so does kind but I don't even notice anymore!

Mine also does really hideous coughing like the kind you when a bit of crisp gets stuck in your throat, loud and chokey and spluttering like a cough crossed with a hiccough and a sneeze and always acts shocked afterwards "I don't know what happened there!" Even though he does it every time he coughs!

imnotthatkindofmum · 30/07/2022 12:39

Mine not kind!

LetsGoRound · 30/07/2022 13:27

Mine is 6'6 tall and well built, I'm 4'10. In the pub, he leans his arm on the top of my head.
In restaurants, when the staff ask if we require a table for two, he will say yes please and a highchair for her.
Handy though for sitting on his shoulders when I want to see the stage at a festival 😂

CustardySergeant · 30/07/2022 13:36

Fraaahnces · 29/07/2022 20:18

Mine loudly sucks each finger after a meal and makes nauseating “hmmmmpffff” sounds with each bite. 🤢

😮Good grief! LTB!

Why has he got a supermarket in his slippers?

LetsGoRound · 30/07/2022 13:56

@CustardySergeant My father goes everywhere in his slippers 😂

Passthetena · 30/07/2022 14:02

Farts in public 😳 (he has an intolerance to something but we have no idea what so it happens unexpectedly sometimes) I know he can't help it but I always leg it to a different aisle when it happens in a shop!
