To think it's easier to do the exercise class than it is to get the fecking sports bra on and off

I'm still sitting in my gym kit 3 hours later as I have not got the residual energy to wrangle myself out of the sports bra.
Different makes seem to make no difference
It's so bloody uncomfortable I'm tempted to get the scissors and just cut it off
Advice??

I only ever buy ones that open fully at the back now. M&S have some OK ones but The Ultimate Run bra from Shock Absorber is the best for me.

Expensive. I tend to buy one per year. If you're not fussy about the colour you can sometimes pick them up a bit cheaper on Amazon or one of the sportswear discount sites.

I actually injured my arm doing up a shock absorber ultimate run , and I'm quite flexible/can reach my back easily. I must have torn something and it has only just recovered a year and a half later. I can get out of them no problem but have to ask DH or the DC to do me up.

The other variation on exercise clothing that's a greater workout than the actual exercise is getting on a full wetsuit for cold water swimming... then worse trying to get it off when the shivers kick in 😂
Definitely any kind of bra-less after any kind of neoprene and probably commando too as even pants rolling up exceeds clothes manipulation skills at that point 🤣

My norks aren't the biggest, but my back and shoulders have broadened with age and there's certain crop top bras that have nearly been removed with scissors after they roll up out of reach behind my back. Bastards.

I don't find wetsuits too bad - so long as they've got a cord on the back zip - and just swimming cossie under. The thing that was really fun was when dd had a sort of lined neoprene top which went over her wetsuit when doing watersports in cold weather. Genuine fun for me as extracting her involved her kneeling at my feet while I played tug of war with it.Grin

I bought this one fairly recently, because I’m losing weight and don’t want to be having to buy a new bra every month. I also have huge, industrial-size breasts and don’t want to get a black eye when I run. It’s absolutely hideous but has a zip front plus hooks and eyes, and the shoulder straps have velcro adjustment, as does the back. Very easy to get in and out of and it adjusts, and keeps everything in its place. Might be worth looking at something similar?

sports bra

LetsGoRound · 28/07/2022 08:40

My daughter, who is well endowed wears the crop top style ones.
She steps into it and pulls it up over her legs, hips and stomach into position.
It always makes me laugh watching her.
Perhaps you could try that method op?

Sandysandwich · 28/07/2022 08:41

The zipped ones are really tricky depending on your size.
My friend has a large band and small cup size and I have a small band and large cup size, the zippy ones work great for her, but they always unzip themselves on me, even when we had the exact same style.
My whole tits fell out on a run it was not my favourite.

You can get ones with a zip and the bra fastenings that go over the top which stops then unzipping and they are still easy to get free of.

OrrAppleCheeks · 28/07/2022 08:42

The other thing - I always find it easier to step into, pull up and squash everything into a pull-over-the-head bra!

Snap! And yes, it does look ridiculous. No more ridiculous than me running though 😀

Mine has tiny hooks under the zipper to prevent exactly that. Big boobs are a curse sometimes

ElegantlyTouched · 28/07/2022 08:50

I have a non-hook one and yes, it's fun. The first time I debated whether to call DP from his office (same site, different building, I'd taken a legitimate long lunch-break to go for a run) or the retired male headteacher I shared an office with for help, I was that desperate!

I eventually figured it out: cross arms, grab and wriggle. Still not the easiest and I swear adds another million calories to the workout!

AssaMarra · 08/08/2022 18:44

Imagine trying with an arthritic shoulder. I've resorted to rolling mine down and stepping out of it.
Still not easy but at least I can eventually get it off.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 08/08/2022 18:46

Zip front.

It's the only way.

ScratchyItchy · 08/08/2022 19:26

I have Enell sports bras with hooks & eyes all the way up the front. Flippin’ expensive but they last well- mine are at least three years old and are still as supportive as when new. Booby doo stock them.

Hankunamatata · 08/08/2022 19:30

I buy ones that I can get off ok so they are a bit stretcher but wear pilates vest top from decathalon with built in boob support that keeps everything under control.

CMOTDibbler · 08/08/2022 19:35

Runderwear bras are the way to go - they undo completely, require no more contortion than a normal bra, very comfortable, and everything stays firmly in place

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 08/08/2022 19:50

Sweaty Betty have some convertible ones that do up like a normal bra if you wear them normal-straps-style, though if you want to change them to straps in the middle of your back (for under vests that shape) the little hook that holds the straps together is a bit more fiddly to do up and undo. (Sometimes I can do it behind my back, other times I have to do it at the front then swizzle). Think they're called Ultra Run? They are quite pricey normally but I get them when they're on sale and have several pairs as I like them.

PrincessSD · 09/08/2022 07:37

I’m actually testing some sports bras for a magazine at the moment and there’s one I’ll be giving zero stars for because it’s so difficult to get in and out of! I swear a contortionist made it for them to practice in.

Thanks the basic ShockAbsorber Run type.

Most of them are like that - you need to be a contortionist to get in to racer back style without the clip on the top strap, and then it’s all down to ease of use of the clip on the top strap.

Or get one like ShockAbsorber Active bra, which isn’t racer back, so is just like any back-fasten bra, but still has v good support

northerngoldilocks · 09/08/2022 10:44

I find the shock absorber ultimate run one ok as can swivel round or do up the main fasten like a normal bra and the put hands over shoulders to do the top clip which is high enough not to need to be a contortionist

Allywill · 09/08/2022 10:49

my daughter has the victoria secret sports bra. it zips on the front and is excellent support (she is a H cup).
