To have thought washing up liquid would replace a dishwasher tablet?

As above. No dishwasher tablets, but lots of washing up liquid.

Kitchen now has a gremlins/stranger things vibe.

AIBU to let in continue on the wash or should I stop and save the kitchen from the land of bubbles?

Pics or it didn’t happen

AppleKatie · 26/07/2022 22:33

My dishwasher stopped mid cycle and didn’t work for weeks after I did this. Genuinely thought I’d broken it, but the bubbles did clear eventually….

IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 22:34

Pictures after I attacked it all with a mop.

Have taken a pp advice and thrown a load of salt (table, hope that is right) in.

Not seen this before on MN (I don't do other SM) wine may or may not have influenced the decision (yes yes it is a Tuesday but the football was on)

You can also just put it on a hot cycle with no detergent at all in a. Pinch. Not pans or things covered in raw meat tho.

WeAreTheHeroes · 26/07/2022 22:37

To be fair at a high enough temperature it'll be fine with no detergent of any kind. How much washing up liquid did you use?

IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 22:37

Salt isn't helping

Hahaha love the pics! 🤣😱 sure all will be fine

IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 22:38

Far too much!

Will remember soap free washing for next time

Pinkkahori · 26/07/2022 22:39

How much did you put in? I put a small amount of fairy liquid in my dishwasher the other day and all I got was perfectly clean dishes, no foam.

StRaphael · 26/07/2022 22:39

“peak bubbles” 😂

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 26/07/2022 22:42

Oh@IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets sorry to laugh but those pics are hilarious 😂

KateLumley · 26/07/2022 22:47

Just to say GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

You only do it once.

KateLumley · 26/07/2022 22:49

We had a similar effect when ds put bubble bath in the whirlpool bath.

IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 22:51

For anyone reading this in the same predicament, opening to have a look only increases the bubble escapage.

DW (dishwasher not Dear wife, although I am making similar noises) is now squealing. Figure this is Not Good.

How much washing up liquid did you use? At my work the dishwasher tabs are forever running out so I quite often just add a squirt of washing up liquid and put it on the hottest wash to compensate and never ever had any bubbles leaking out!

MomwasCasual · 26/07/2022 22:16

Oh bless you.

Either stop now, OR dig out your skimpy bikini, Ecstasy tabs, glow sticks and whistle, and party 90's Ibeefa-style for the next eight hours.

Ohhh I vote this, will come join you

tunainatin · 26/07/2022 22:55

I made that mistake on my first day at a new job

Kerrrmieee · 26/07/2022 22:57

Mind you don't slip. <Voice of Reason> i.e old 🤣

IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 22:59

Molkos you know that feeling when you think ah in for a penny in for a pound, I went in for a tenner.

OP posts:
IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 23:01

tuna did they keep you on?

Kermieee thanks, I am far too old to have made this error so not slipping is good advice.

SpencersCroftCat · 26/07/2022 23:03

Oh my life. I'll make sure to never make this mistake.

For PP asking why not do them by hand in the first place - at my home, I have a dishwasher because I can't handwash due to disability.

Reigateforever · 26/07/2022 23:04

My bubbles were more airy than yours and they went all over the floor. I used a supper market make.
Now, I cut in half the tablets if running down low.

TheCraicDealer · 26/07/2022 23:14

DH fucked a VERY soapy washing up brush in a cycle a few months back, I came down to get another coffee and there were suds all over the floor. I was furious, started shouting for him- of course he was taking a characteristically well-timed shit, so I set about with towels trying to mop up the bubbles and save the brand new laminate floor and kitchen units. He danders down a few minutes later and has the audacity to go, “You’ve used my towel!!!!”.

There was no damage thank fuck, and to be fair the floor was very clean afterwards.

IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 23:15

Fuck, they are coming out the sink now

OP posts:
IRanOutOfDishwasherTablets · 26/07/2022 23:23

The clean floor mentioned above gives me hope.

The bubbles are still multiplying but since they have started coming out of the sink I am going to do what all fully functioning adults do and close the kitchen door and go to bed.

Will update tomorrow providing the bubbles don't drown me.
