Inspired by the thread about the worst ones. I often lament the loss of the great adverts of the late 80s and 90s. I loved the sunkist one, the Wrigley's spearmint one, hamlet, the one where Henry looks a big girls blouse in portia's prize for the cat food add. BT ology add with Maureen Lipman, the fly fishing book one and the yellow pages house trashed at a party one. Budweiser ones with the whatever creatures they were. I'm ill with a bad infection so please cheer me up with your memories of great adds.

Guinness ad - surfer (not the tick follows tock one, great as it was) with a belting saxaphone soundtrack- so cool…

Spudina · 24/07/2022 22:34

I liked loads of the ones already mentioned such as Acrington Stanley and The Red car and the blue car. Guinness have done some great ones, such as the one that said “tick follows tock” and it had horses in sea.

I loved the Levi ads of the 90s

I think I bought all the singles for them

Does anyone remember the naughty boiler one? Goldilocks and the three hairs?

ShirleyJackson · 24/07/2022 22:40

There used to be one for beer (possibly Guinness) that showed a pub scene. Everyone was moving normally from the waist up, but their legs were doing Irish dancing.

It was around the time that Riverdance was hugely popular. It didn’t half make me laugh.

The singing potatoes - ‘ We want to be …. Smiths crisps, we want to be Smiths crisps’

ShirleyJackson · 24/07/2022 22:43

This is it!

Wouldloveanother · 24/07/2022 22:44

Not as iconic but the spec savers one where the vet tries to resuscitate a fur hat thinking it’s a cat

ShirleyJackson · 24/07/2022 22:45

What will it be for tea tonight?
Could it be salad or frozen peas?
Will it be mushrooms? Fried onion rings?
We’ll have to wait and see!

Hope it’s chips, it’s chips!
We all hope it’s chips, it’s chips…

ThickCutSteakChips · 24/07/2022 22:45

Some real classics here, I’d totally forgotten the squirrel Carling one!

What about the milk ad with the red and white straws, watch out watch out there’s a Humphrey about!

AlphaAlpha · 24/07/2022 23:08

I came to say the toilet paper brand - name escapes me- and all the toilets are singing bum bum bum bum bummmmm!!!

SammyScrounge · 25/07/2022 02:03

The coffee one that was a series of ads following a couple's first meeting. Each subsequent took their flirtation a step further. It was a marvellous ad.

Clarabellasingsthisbit · 25/07/2022 06:46

This one from 1964 for Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate:

I still think of it today whenever I make a hot chocolate drink!
millievanille · 25/07/2022 07:19

The Lloyds Bank 'by your side advert from a few years ago. The full version to the song by Birdy with the horse galloping always got me.

The Weetabix adverts from the 90s were great. I remember laughing hysterically with my sister at the Robin Hood one and the driving instructor singing to I Will Survive.

The Golden Syrup one from around the same era 'stick it in a twist, stick it on your yoghurt stick it on your shopping list!!'

louderthan · 25/07/2022 07:26

Guinness surfers!
