That counsellors note down what you are saying.

@BobMortimersPocketMeat I bet you also don't carry a whip and go running from boulders either 😂

What goes on behind closed doors… 😁

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 23/07/2022 23:22

psychologists and psychotherapists 1. have affairs with their clients, 2. manipulate them for nefarious purposes, 3. earn a fortune.

Lisad1231981 · 23/07/2022 23:24

That children in need of diagnosis or mental health support get in quickly. My LA takes 2 years minimum to diagnosis ASD and me Ts health services are crap.

UrricanesArdlyHeverAppen · 23/07/2022 23:27

UKVI/Border Force. Nothing is ever remotely as portrayed. Mind you, lots of the media and some of the threads on here about immigration are full of absolute rubbish as well.

Narwhalelife · 23/07/2022 23:33

Social workers tend to arrived to take children away - that’s apparently it 😕

HappyDays40 · 23/07/2022 23:36

My job was depcted on Holby City the A and E Occupational Therapist was massaging someone's leg in all my years working in hospitals did I ever massage anything.

AnneElliott · 23/07/2022 23:44

That police protection officers wander round the Government building and enter meetings with the principal that they're protecting. Bodyguard

SpindleFibre · 23/07/2022 23:46

That unconscious patients lie on their back for days on end, often without even being ventliated. Sometimes not even on oxygen. And they don't have one- to- one nursing.

That patients in "asystole" (flat-line) cardiac arrest need a defibrillator.

That medical students can prescribe drugs.

TrashyPanda · 23/07/2022 23:49

Weddings - something highly dramatic always happens before/during/after.

couples don’t just get married and have a lovely time with family and friends.

Children's Social Services..When Miss Honey whips out the adoption papers in Matilda.

Minniem2020 · 23/07/2022 23:52

That anyone can just use someone else's airline ticket last minute if they can't make it. Not without phoning the airline and paying a sometimes hefty name change fee you can't mate

SingingSands · 23/07/2022 23:52

Everyone knows the "sexy secretary" stereotype, right?

I'm a Legal PA. The reality is nothing like that!

TrashyPanda · 23/07/2022 23:53

Clevs · 23/07/2022 22:55

In Casualty everyone gets oxygen, they shock flat line asystole and the paramedics are met at the door by several doctors and give their handover whilst they're walking down the corridor.

And Charlie looks frailer than 90% of the patients.

how realistic is it to have a 74 year Nurse working long shifts in an ED?

Golightly133 · 23/07/2022 23:56

I am a massage therapist 🤔we don’t get lots of sexy gorgeous men who we fall in love with we don’t flirt with our clients

The Drs do your job. See House. Where they appear to know how to do ultrasounds and other diagnostic examinations themselves.

That always annoyed me! Even as a nurse, there's a equipment I use often that our doctors don't know how to operate (I got given 2 'faulty' thermometers by a doctor the other day, who was actually just pressing the wrong button). The idea of someone who hasn't trained for years in that specific area, doing imaging or running their own lab tests, is just ridiculous.
I still love House though and would watch it over and over, despite this.

Justnormallettuceffs · 24/07/2022 00:01

Teacher

That I can just slam a pupil's woeful effort on a homework/ test down on their desk with a huge big F grade on it, no helpful comment on how to improve (for the pupil to ignore) and I can just give the pupil a withering glance and maybe a sarky comment.

Reality- I'd be the one in trouble for making an inaccessible test. Or for not preparing the pupils for it. We want all high grades please! To avoid "intervention". As for withering glance and comment, well not if I don't want the parents phoning up to complain.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 23/07/2022 22:40

That the bell will ring when you are halfway through a lesson. Teachers know when the bell is going to ring, it doesn't just randomly ring when they are mid sentence. You finish the lesson in time for the bell. In films this happens all the time and the kids just get up and walk out and the teacher says "ok we will carry on with this tomorrow" or whatever.

I reckon those shows must be written by people my age who went to school in the 80s as that's exactly what I remember happening! A few teachers had the authority to keep a class sat there until they told them to go but most didn't and students did just walk out when the bell went.

MotherOfDragon20 · 24/07/2022 00:05

Nurses and doctors defibrillating asystole (flatline). Asystole and PEA are unshockable Rhythms and shouldn’t be defibrillated. They Very rarely get this right in tv and films always quite impressed when they do!

Sparklybutold · 24/07/2022 00:05

Although no longer. That doctors do EVERYTHING!

parietal · 24/07/2022 00:09

scientist - on TV, you get the results of your research immediately (rather than spending 2 months tearing your hair out over data analysis). On TV, there are no ethics committees or paperwork that constrain what research you can do, whether it is giving people an untested drug or releasing alien lifeforms. and on TV, the computer program or fancy equipment just works the first time, even for visitors from the future or people who have no idea what they are doing.

Widgets · 24/07/2022 00:17

Children's social care - character on tv calls social services and a social worker knocks on the door 5 minutes later!!
characters apply to foster on tv and get approved within 2 episodes!!
Social workers are shown as taking children and being the 'bad guys' they dont show early help assessments, family support workers etc.. and the hard work that goes into keeping families safe

Bonjovispjs · 24/07/2022 00:20

That nannies are psychos, nope, that's often the parents we work for.

echt · 24/07/2022 00:23

Another teaching one. All lessons end with the bell sounding while the teacher is in mid-flow, the kids run out without being dismissed and the teacher bellows the homework over the din.

Utterly shit lack of planning. TBF, I've seen this in reality a few times when I'm waiting to come into a classroom, but it's always the same person.

I'm an accountant so no one tries to do my job even badly on TV..
