I tend to have 1-2 drinks around 4 times a week at home. But I've been having 3 cocktails every night on holiday. The bars are so accessible and the drinks so lovely! Oh and I don't have to get up for work 😊. Anyone else??

Only drink a couple of nights a week at home, on holiday every day and actually pretty solidly and not much maybe a bottle of wine max.

On hols though, beer or cocktail about 11 or 12 ish by the pool or on the beach if there, then a pre lunch drink, generally I don’t drink with lunch, then mid afternoon another couple of drinks whilst lounging, then a sun down one before heading to the room, glass of wine in room whilst getting ready, then bar for a pre dinner drink, then wine with dinner, then head to the bar after and have a few.

which reading back makes me seem like a right alkie but bizzarely I am never drunk, likely as they are spaced out,I drink loads of water in between and eat properly.

We went to the Maldives three years ago and i had a Prosecco with breakfast every morning. Glass of Prosecco, a coffee and my brekkie, was awesome 😂

yes but other than 1 glass of wine with lunch never during the day on holiday. I have my routine, iced coffee in then morning, 1 glass of wine with lunch, Diet Coke in the afternoon plus loads of water obviously. Don’t tend to drink in the room but will share a bottle of wine with dinner and then a couple of drinks after.

DP drinks more than me. He’ll usually have 2-3 beers during the day and a glass of wine with lunch and then a few more than me after dinner.

have a couple of glasses 3-4 times a week at home but never get drunk or binge

Yes and I am not one bit ashamed.

No, I don't want to normalise drinking to my children so I only drink on very rare occasions such as a wedding toast or a family celebration.

I don't need alcohol to help me relax or feel happy and that's the message I want to teach my children.

Boy do you sound like you really need a drink....

Whataplanker · 24/07/2022 20:27

Oh yes!

Having said that, when we went to Florida, I think I only had one or two alcoholic drinks over the whole 12 days as it was just so full on and early starts and also we'd hired a car which DH was driving - he wasn't drinking so I didn't feel like drinking on my own. We walked out for a meal locally on a couple of evenings and I had a drink then but that was it.

MajorCarolDanvers · 24/07/2022 20:28

Most nights. Usually have 1-2 off.

FairyLightAddict · 24/07/2022 20:28

Hell yes. And I start at midday which I never do at home. Holiday rules

luckylavender · 24/07/2022 20:35

I don't no. In fact when it's hot I find alcohol unpleasant.

I like to normalise that I can have one drink and stop there, otherwise my children might grow up thinking it is taboo and go out binge drinking.

SirChenjins · 24/07/2022 21:03

No - neither of us are big drinkers, so although we’ll drink a bit more on holiday it won’t be every day. I don’t like the feeling of alcohol in the heat.

IScreamAtMichaelangelos · 24/07/2022 21:08

That used to be the norm for us, but then I realised DH was a borderline alcoholic. That changed holidays a bit, alas!
