I tend to have 1-2 drinks around 4 times a week at home. But I've been having 3 cocktails every night on holiday. The bars are so accessible and the drinks so lovely! Oh and I don't have to get up for work 😊. Anyone else??

I may have 1 or 2 drinks at a weekend normally, sometimes a lot on one night if a proper night out but rarely drink at home. On holiday I have 3 or 4 cocktails by the pool then maybe 3 or 4 in the evening, mixture of wine, cocktails or spirits most days. I don't often get wasted on holiday as would hate to feel awful the next day but definitely drink way more spread over the day.

AppleBottomRats · 23/07/2022 22:15

No but we tend to do holidays where you’re sightseeing/doing stuff so hangovers would get in the way. I went on a 10 day holiday in May and I think I had one alcoholic drink. But I also don’t drink every week at home. What you drink in a week is probably what I drink in a year.

VickyEadieofThigh · 23/07/2022 22:16

Yep.

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 23/07/2022 22:16

No, I have this weird thing with alcohol where I usually can't face it if I've drunk the day before (unless it was only a half of cider or something, and even if day 2 was only a half of cider as well, day 3 would definitely be out). It's not a conscious decision, just "Ooh no don't fancy that". On holiday, embrace your consecutive day drinking ability!

PinkiOcelot · 23/07/2022 22:17

I’ve just come back from Corfu. Yes I had a few drinks every night.

roarfeckingroarr · 23/07/2022 22:18

Yes and I barely drink at home. Holidays are different.

choolaboola · 23/07/2022 22:20

why are you asking a pack of strangers on the internet? Go and enjoy yourself, whatever that means for you.

kimfox · 23/07/2022 22:20

Not on holiday yet, but I absolutely will drink every night when I'm there - unless I've got a headache or feel unwell from all the drinking

rookiemere · 23/07/2022 22:20

Yes - I hardly drink at home, but on holiday I'd generally have a pre dinner cocktail and a glass or two of wine with my meal each night.

OneTC · 23/07/2022 22:22

Yeah!

Once went on holiday for 4 months, drunk every day, it was amazing Grin

kimfox · 23/07/2022 22:22

Not get drink of course because that's hideous & will be with DC, but will have a cocktail or a beer & wine with dinner. Maybe a little nightcap once or twice!

kimfox · 23/07/2022 22:22

Ffs * drunk

worriedatthistime · 23/07/2022 22:23

Pretty much yes whereas at home probably couple times a month

Stevienickssnickers · 23/07/2022 22:29

Yes definitely. Pre DC we'd have anything from a few drinks to huge night outs (hello sun coming up in Berlin). Now it's more likely to be a couple over dinner or sharing a bottle in our apartment once DS is asleep.

Only exception was when we did longer 3 week+ trips, then we'd have a dry night once a week or if it was a road trip, wouldn't drink the night before a long drive.

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 23/07/2022 22:30

Yes

FatBettyintheCoop · 23/07/2022 22:39

No, I don't want to normalise drinking to my children so I only drink on very rare occasions such as a wedding toast or a family celebration.

I don't need alcohol to help me relax or feel happy and that's the message I want to teach my children.

Longlostfamilial · 23/07/2022 22:44

We at home drink only at weekends, never on a “school” night. But on holiday we would always have a glass or several of wine or cocktails. It’s a treat. And limited time so we know we will be back to routine at home. Enjoy your break!

RewildingAmbridge · 23/07/2022 22:48

Used to before DS, used to go out for dinner/gigs/theatre/at least a few drinks most weekends too! Barely drink anymore, we went away in May and I had a glass of wine or a couple of beers a couple of nights but was mostly too shattered

RewildingAmbridge · 23/07/2022 22:57

Just realised never really been a holiday day drinker, even pre DS we've had quite active holidays, also I'm more likely to get tired/headaches driving in the sun during the day.
I do remember one occasion quad biking through some epic sand dunes near Essaouira in Morocco, it was so hot, and we stopped and the guide pulled a cool bag out with an ice cold bottle of beer each, to drink looking out at the Atlantic. That was heaven

GinaMaloney · 23/07/2022 22:58

i do. I live quite a structured and monotonous life at home so, when I’m on holiday, I let is all go. No rules, I eat and drink whatever I like. My last holiday was in Feb (Algarve) and I started drinking at around 11am most days. I hardly ever drink at home because I get up at 5am every day and can’t handle the hangover!

TenoringBehind · 23/07/2022 22:59

Yes

SummerL0ving · 23/07/2022 23:02

Yes I do.

I have a drink two to three nights a week at home but usually every night on holiday.

fionaapple · 23/07/2022 23:09

Only drink at pubs/bars/clubs etc at home. I wouldn't really have a glass of anything with my dinner... we are AI for 11 days in a couple of weeks and I am planning on making good use of that but equalling out my drinks with water as I don't want to spend a minute of my holiday being sick and dehydrated😅

Crikeyalmighty · 23/07/2022 23:11

Yes but I don't drink in the day at all. At home drink Fri/sat/sun

Theonlyones · 23/07/2022 23:24

I do! We don’t have any alcohol at home, so holidays are an exception. Of course, that means our tolerance for alcohol is very low. But I really enjoy it :)
