Aibu to ask if you drink every night on holiday?

I tend to have 1-2 drinks around 4 times a week at home. But I've been having 3 cocktails every night on holiday. The bars are so accessible and the drinks so lovely! Oh and I don't have to get up for work 😊. Anyone else??

Isn't that the point of holidays?

A bottle of wine a day on my hols!

shinynewapple22 · 23/07/2022 23:36

Same here. Drink a couple of times a week at home but every night and most day times too on holiday .

trailrunner85 · 23/07/2022 23:42

No. But then I don't really drink at home either. I'm one of those annoying MNetters who averages about a glass of wine a year (and I really enjoy it!)

littlepeas · 23/07/2022 23:44

Yes! Only Friday and Saturday when at home but every day when on holiday. Never to excess though as I hate feeling drunk.

Eeksteek · 23/07/2022 23:52

I would if I could, but it gives me migraines. I can have two drinks and it’s about 50:50 if I get one the next day. But if I had two two nights running, it’s a cert. I miss drinking so much. I was never a huge drinker, but I’ve had to reduce it to old lady levels, and I’ve no tolerance anyway anymore. Sob (first world problems, of course. It’s not even my biggest problem today. But it does make me sad)

honeyfox · 23/07/2022 23:57

Wouldn't really have anything during the day on holiday but definitely a few glasses of wine with dinner. Maybe one or two nights of the week we'd go out after dinner and have a few extra.

LondonQueen · 24/07/2022 11:11

Yes I do!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 24/07/2022 11:16

I've given up drinking at home but am going abroad in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to a cold lager by the pool and a couple of evening cocktails! Yes it will probably be every day

Crunchymum · 24/07/2022 11:18

I'm on my first teetotal holiday as I stopped drinking 5 months ago.

But my usual answer would be "drink away" 🍹

shrunkenhead · 24/07/2022 11:21

You're on holiday, go for it! I would. Normal rules don't apply.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 24/07/2022 11:23

Absolutely. I rarely don't drink on holiday.

Thepeopleversuswork · 24/07/2022 11:27

I definitely drink more on holiday than at home. Drink about two nights a week at home, most nights on holiday although would like at least one night off so as not to feel totally pickled.

Also increasingly alcohol affects my sleep and holidays are at least partly about catching up on sleep so I would want to be pissed every night.

123ROLO · 24/07/2022 11:31

If away for 2 weeks I might have the odd day off booze but mostly yes I do drink everyday on holiday, not excessively, just a couple cocktails or wines

maddy68 · 24/07/2022 11:32

Yes

LetsGoRound · 24/07/2022 11:33

God yes. Dump suitcases in the room and off to the bar. I don't like wine or cocktails but I am partial to a vodka or ten.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 24/07/2022 11:35

Yup. And not just on AI foreign holidays. I'll have at least one drink each night when away self catering in the UK. Whereas at home I often won't drink at all from one week to the next.

Minikievs · 24/07/2022 11:37

Yep! Just went away for a week on my own with the kids. Had my first beer at 11am with a coffee by the pool.
Generally a couple of morning beers (small) couple of g&ts (small) in the afternoon and another couple at night.
If I was away with BF or group of friends without the kids, I'd drink at any point of the day if away on hols.
It's not normal life, you're on your holidays!

Minikievs · 24/07/2022 11:37

Sorry, didn't answer the ACTUAL question.
That would be every day, yes 😬

Isthislove4ever · 24/07/2022 11:43

No, but I don't drink weekly at home either. We went All inclusive to Turkey recently, but I think we only had about 6-8 alcoholic drinks in total each...just didn't fancy it. I kinda wanted to/fancied it, but after the 1st day or 2 it was enough and I didn't like feeling dehydrated in that heat so after a couple of day cocktails and then a few drinks that evening or the next evening, we stuck to water and tea for the rest of the holiday.

AhNowTed · 24/07/2022 11:44

Yes!

waterlego · 24/07/2022 19:30

Yes. I drink very infrequently at home (social occasions only, and we don’t have many of those 😂) I like to drink on holiday but am unlikely to actually get drunk. A couple of daytime or lunch time beers in the sun is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

BigYellowElephant · 24/07/2022 19:34

At home I drink one night a week, occasionally twice. On holiday I have one night off drinking, maybe two if it's a two week holiday

BusySittingDown · 24/07/2022 19:38

Pretty much.

Hardly drink at home. Maybe a few glasses of wine at the weekend at home or a couple of cocktails/g&ts out. NEVER drink during the week as it feels pointless - to me the point of having alcohol is to let loose and unwind so it makes me feel like it should be the weekend and makes me feel depressed that it isn't!

On holiday it's lovely to sit outside with a cocktail or refreshing drink. I never get drunk on holiday - probably because of all the water I drink to stay hydrated.

Titsywoo · 24/07/2022 19:48

Not every day and not much. I'm the only one in my family who drinks at all anyway and I might have one or two one night but that's about it. If away with friends and kids I might drink more often but still not every night. Never drink in the day as it makes me sleepy.

pimlicoanna · 24/07/2022 19:50

We do!
