Jennifer Affleck. JFleck or Mrs. Affleck?

Now that Jlo (Jennifer Lopez) has changed her name to Jennifer Affleck (it’s been leaked, classy move they don’t do that much in Hollywood), what do you think she should re-brand her “Jlo” name into?

vote YABU unreasonable for the similar to Jlo “JFleck” and YANBU for the “Mrs Affleck” moniker which could be a change of pace as she ages.

@Covetthee

Yeah it’s probably not high betting odds but that poster did have a point. It’s happened before - Bogart and Bacall were together for ages until he died despite his drinking and the fact he left his wife for her and she was like 19 and he was 42 or something. And even though people in society stayed together back than - people in Hollywood had about the same divorce rate as now.

@DashboardConfessional

I was pretty surprised when Adele broke up with her husband and her reasons for doing so considering this. Basically she just lost the feels. Kind of sound d more self absorbed than I thought she was when she was talking about it, saying how her son was upset but once he saw her loved (by a new guy) he would feel better. I was like “really? Will he?”. Changed my view on her totally.

People are allowed to leave marriages with people they are no longer in love with. Or for any reason at all. Them being a celebrity doesn't give you some kind of special right to comment.

I actually think the whole "they won't last" discussion is in poor taste and pointless. They both comne across as quite troubled individuals, and I hope that they can find some peace with each other.

@Icanstillrecallourlastsummer

I am allowed to comment - you just commented on Jennifer and Ben being troubled so what’s the difference?
Yes people are allowed to leave for any reason - and I thought her reason was quite fickle and self absorbed. I wasn’t really commenting on her leaving anyway - more that in all her interviews she made a big deal of her son being sad about it (and she wrote a song about it), but then she had this really kind of airheaded reasoning that once her son saw how much another man was loving her he would forgive her? I was like, what?

or perhaps she just wasn't "classy" enough for you.

TinaTubster · 19/07/2022 13:47

@Icanstillrecallourlastsummer

Look if she didn’t want people to talk about it she shouldn’t have gone on a press tour to talk about it and given all the details and written multiple songs about it.
It’s funny because she has the relatable image supposedly but compared to her Jlo keeps her private life far more low key and private.

”classy and empowering” to change your name to someone she will be divorced from in about 5 mins??? Yeah right….

Willyoujustbequiet · 20/07/2022 00:33

@TinaTubster

It's sad because why would anyone want to take the name of an alcoholic cheater let alone someone with her success.

It's sad because it's an outdated, illogical convention dripping with misogyny. Its laughable that anyone could possibly see it as empowering.

Indeed. When I see someone at work has changed their name to their husband's name, they go down quite a bit in my estimation, to be honest. The type of person to do it is usually someone I'd never be friends with anyway, but I've been surprised a few times.

Khackney123 · 20/07/2022 00:35

Should be named Jeff, very simple, catchy. very good

MissTrip82 · 20/07/2022 00:40

This so the second time I’ve seen someone describe changing one’s name on marriage as ‘classy’.

I laughed at the stupidity of such a comment the first time, and again now.

You would cease being friends with someone who changed her name? How funny.

Presumably you have a very narrow set of friends?
