Neighbour has cut my tree...a lot!

How much is usual? I know they can trim overhanging branches, they've gone right to the top of the tree. I'll see if I can add a photo.

OP posts:
MissMaple82 · 18/07/2022 13:11

I think the only reason ndn cut your trees is just to be annoying as fuck.

sunglassesonthetable · 18/07/2022 13:11

Where does it say OP is a tenant?

Floella22 · 18/07/2022 13:12

Well whoever lopped your tree should be ashamed. That’s no way to treat a tree.

ThreeLittleDots · 18/07/2022 13:12

I share my boundaries with 6 neighbours. If I went around having dialogue with them all, every time I get my pruners out, I'd not have any time left in the fucking day!

OP has accepted that she'll have to get used to it. There isn't really anything more to add.

Mumsnet is full of really odd people. A beautiful tree is ruined. It probably dropped leaves on the neighbours plastic grass

Exactly my thoughts

A question to the OP and the other posters who think they have the right to have trees overhanging their neighbours. Why do you think you have the right to do this? It baffles me to be honest.

Your opinion that a tree is so offensive baffles me

Less highly amusing & incredibly sad that too many, yourself included @LarryBlackmonsCodpiece are too ignorant to know the laws that are there to protect our birds & wildlife 🙄

Read my post again, I do know the laws, I’m not here to virtue signal my credentials for protecting wildlife but you obviously are, have at it. Me stating beloved was me being sarcastic because up until the point of the neighbour getting the tree pruned op couldn’t give a shit about the tree.

This isnt a random far boundary neighbour. This is next - door - over -the -wall to OP.
You're thinking once again that everyone's life is the same as yours.

I'd stick to the placards to avoid communication.

Hilarious when posters go full headmistress on the thread.

I don't understand why you are being so rude to me and digging me out? I have 6 different immediate 'over the fence" neighbours that all share their boundaries with me. I live in the middle of a housing estate.

If you don't like the law then what are you doing to try and change it? You certainly won't affect my behaviour, which is entirely reasonable and I get on with all of my neighbours.

Hilarious when you can spot a troll a mile off.

Not true @ThreeLittleDots, check the link. It protects nesting sites, built nests & nests being built. You can't even legally move pigeon nests out of season as they reuse old nests. I doubt the neighbours even bothered to check, but it more likely than not that a tree like that would have had nesting birds

"Hello, I'd like to report someone for breaking the law....no, I don't have any proof that there were nests in the tree...no I don't have any proof that they didn't check the tree first, I just choose to believe these things of them. What do you mean there's nothing you can do?"

Oh please.

Read your replies.

Don't dish it out if you're not going to take it.

Is this just about the law??

Or having the common decency and manners to have a chat with your next neighbour and explain your issues. And working out a reasonable way to resolve it.

And not brutalising a tree in a completely amateurish way without saying a word?

LarryBlackmonsCodpiece · 18/07/2022 13:29

I know you’re bored & the suns got to you a bit, probably best to go take a lie down under a tree.

Honeyroar · 18/07/2022 13:32

I think they’ve made a right hash job of the tree. It’s a shame people can’t appreciate trees and the need for them, even if they’re overhanging a little. While the countryside is being ripped up for houses it would be good to have a few trees on gardens.

if I were OP I’d have a tree surgeon take a look and see whether the tree needs evening up to be stable. I’d also write to the person that topped the tree asking whether they used a proper tree surgeon and checked for nests. I’d also say I’d appreciate if they could let you know in future, so the tree doesn’t end up such a mess.

Summerfun54321 · 18/07/2022 13:49

The question is why have you let such a large tree grow so close to your neighbour’s garden? Large overhanging trees and shrubs are such a pain in the arse for neighbours and take time and cost for them to manage.
