Anyone going to work in a very hot/no aircon environment tomorrow?

I am working in resturaunt kitchens tomorrow 🥵 DH fixes machinery in a non-aircon environment and has to wear quite a thick hot uniform so feeling sorry for ourselves at the moment as we are in the area predicted 40 Degrees.

I feel particularly bad for hospital staff though, no idea how they will cope 😔

Solidarity with anyone else going into an environment tomorrow that will make the heat seem 100x worse 😓

Ye work
in a hospital, uniforms are sweaty, dreading it!! Oh and mask on all day 🥵🥵

artishard · 17/07/2022 22:29

Yep, same here- stuck in a hot kitchen all day and dreading it! Thankfully I have a day off on Tuesday, so just one hellish shift to get through. 😫

Oldraver · 17/07/2022 22:35

Yes a workroom in a metal building with no air con

The office next door has air con

nocoolnamesleft · 17/07/2022 22:37

Hospital. Where I'm working tomorrow will be unpleasant. But I'm utterly dreading Tuesday's clinic, as the room really heats up in the sun. Definitely no aircon there.

PotterLottery · 17/07/2022 22:37

NHS uniform and full ppe (apron, mask, gloves, shoe covers). Absolutely dreading it

I really feel for people working in kitchens it must be horrible.

USaYwHatNow · 17/07/2022 22:37

Yep hospital in scrubs

USaYwHatNow · 17/07/2022 22:37

At 31 weeks pregnant 😂😂😭😭

amicissimma · 17/07/2022 22:38

I have a relative who will be welding, as usual.

Onlyhuman123 · 17/07/2022 22:38

Yes but only an office with no air con, not a hot kitchen!! I work 5 1/2 hrs a day, normally 9-2.30 but I'm doing 7- 12.30 so I get home before the worst of it.

Yep me too, have just done two 10 hour days this weekend and it was hell on earth yet alone tomorrows heat. Thought I was going to pass out in my mask today.

madamehooch · 17/07/2022 22:40

Shop with a 'glass' roof ...

ZealAndArdour · 17/07/2022 22:40

Yep, A&E. So I get to put a load of impermeable plastic PPE on over my polyester uniform. Can’t wait.

FarmGirl78 · 17/07/2022 22:42

Ughhh. I've got 18 housebound patients to visit tomorrow. They're all little old dears who have their gas fires on full blast all year round, regardless of the weather. If its really hot they might turn their fires down to just 2 bars for a couple of days in August. It's roughly a 2 minute drive between each house, so neither me or my car air con has chance to cool down in between. And I'll be wearing a mask, surgical gloves and sweaty sweaty plastic apron.

Strawberry0909 · 17/07/2022 22:42

DP will be welding, don't envy him at all

Sounds rough :( No idea how hospital staff will cope tomorrow it’s actually quite scary

Fuck a (sweaty) duck! Poor you! Ice pads, you know the ones for a bump or head injury under your scrubs stuck on!

FarmGirl78 · 17/07/2022 22:44

But man, I pity those working cooking in kitchens.

SucksToBeYouHun · 17/07/2022 22:44

Yep, 12 hour shifts in a nursing home, fully equipped with masks, aprons etc, while our nurses and managers have air con in their offices however we are not allowed to switch a fan on in the lounges due to "covid" ... Fun times 🙄

Wtf that’s ridiculous 😳 Who decided that made sense

Yes my room was over 30 degrees last week when it was less hot and I have to wear a mask most of the day. Dreading it.

MichelleScarn · 17/07/2022 22:47

@USaYwHatNow I know this is post birth but may help!

Anyone going to work in a very hot/no aircon environment tomorrow?
Badger1970 · 17/07/2022 22:48

Yes, in a glass fronted south facing retail showroom...... and our poor workshop staff are in a pre-fab building with a tin roof. Everyone is coming in a 6 and finishing at 2 but I'm stuck there until 5pm. Not looking forward to it one bit especially after having mild heatstroke last week from a busy sunday/monday and not drinking enough. I've had about 12 pints of water today............

cbatopainttheshed · 17/07/2022 22:50

Yep. Police. No air con in the station. Black uniform heavy boots and when out of the station a stab vest! I'm going to roast alive!!

GrumpyLovegood · 17/07/2022 22:51

Yep, hospital, Victorian thick walled building no ac huge windows that don’t open. No curtains. No fans allowed.
Thankfully only ppe is a mask, but heavy polyester tunic and black trousers and fully closed shoes. Yay. And a ward full of hot grumpy patients. Yay.
But man I feel for anyone working in a kitchen or similar with hot machinery.
Scorchio.
