So disappointed with my eufy, what am I doing wrong?

I’ve resisted the urge for so long and finally, after reading one too many ‘it’s life changing, wish I’d done this years earlier’ reviews I took the plunge on prime day

just run it for the first time (after taking an absolute age to set up) and am seriously unimpressed. Left huge swathes of the carpet untouched, and went over the same spots more times than I can count. Missed very obvious, loose bits on the floor that I deliberately left as a test. Then took itself back off to its charging station apparently thinking it was a job well done?

I spent so long moving cables, things off the floor then having to redo the bits it missed etc I literally could have just given it a hoover myself.

so disappointed I fell for the hype. What am I missing?!

yabu - I love my Eufy, robot hoovers are amazing
yanbu - they are rubbish

Check the bin. Has it picked up lots. If its full theres your answer.
Try it again in the morning
I can confirm its life changing

Also, it needs a name

olympicsrock · 17/07/2022 21:34

Ours is great. It isn’t as good on carpets as if you vacuu
m hard but it great on our tiled kitchen floor which is polished as well as vacuumed.

they learn your lay out over time

WiddlinDiddlin · 17/07/2022 21:37

Poor Eufy, first day on the job, hasn't quite got the hang yet, knackered after a long journey and you're ready to sack them!

Thursday37 · 17/07/2022 21:37

It takes time to learn your house to do it efficiently. I miss ours. We had one in our old house but it doesn’t work here so had to be sold (old thatched cottage with tiny rooms and multiple levels. It can’t move room to room or charge itself).

InChocolateWeTrust · 17/07/2022 21:41

We have an irobot.

It required a mindset change in terms of keeping the floor clear but I do now love it. We have animals who shed, and it's great value is that I can hit a button on my phone & send it round the sitting room carpet if my mother announces she is coming after work or my cleaner has to cancel

Agree with pp

  1. Never watch it
  2. Keep your floors clear of cables
  3. Accept that it's strength is in going round every day so over time your floor gets cleaner. It's not a 'one off deep clean' kind of tool
Smile

THIS.

mine goes around at 3 am when we’re all in bed and I pop him upstairs to when I walk the dog at 9am. The first week or so the bin was rammed full every time. Now I get a few days between empties. Definately is a little often tool but I would t be without it. Absolute game changer! Love that he goes under my beds and furniture!

I have Eufy and Bagotte, similar prices. Much prefer the Bagotte because it methodically covers every inch of the room (it self maps), whereas the Eufy lasts longer but prefers some bits of the room to others which it ignores.

Staffy1 · 17/07/2022 21:47

I thought our original eufy was really good. It always left the place clean looking and didn’t take itself home until it needed a recharge. It also did it quietly. Sadly it broke after a few years. The new one announces everything it does in a loud voice, leaves bits on the carpet and goes back to starting point when it thinks it’s done, not even back to the charger.
Slightly off topic, I still can’t help laughing about something I read ages ago about someone leaving theirs to start when they were out and got back to find dog poo smeared all over the place. The poor dog had probably done the poo in fright when this thing suddenly started itself up.

Namerchangerextraordinaire · 17/07/2022 21:52

I've got 2 robot hoovers - 1 upstairs & 1 downstairs & I've had my first Eufy for a couple of years now.
I picked up the second one a few months back & just keep a handheld vac to do the stairs.

If there are people with long hair in the house, you'll need to check the brush as it picks up crazy amounts which clag up the brush & make him not very good at getting more until you clean it off.

Also if the bin is blocked up at the entrance to it with fluff - when mine goes over rugs he picks up ferocious amounts of fluff.

At first I was having to empty the dust box a couple of times a clean, but now it's less than once a day.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 17/07/2022 21:52

We had one that repeatedly cleaned the same bit of carpet without wandering too far and cleaning the whole area - that one was called Dirt Bogarde.

We replaced it with a mapping one which sweeps brilliantly once a day. This one is called Dirt Reynolds.

It's great for after the grandchildren have been.

5zeds · 17/07/2022 21:54

give it’s couple of days, you will bond.

Which bagotte do you have please?

What make and model is Dirt Reynolds please?

riotlady · 17/07/2022 22:11

We got rid of ours when we got our stick hoover, find it so much simpler to whizz around myself and only takes 2 mins

Use treats, a clicker, and a whistle, and be patient. It might be a bit shy at first but it will eventually gain confidence.

love this 😂

😆I really love this... because we treat Eufy like it's one of the pets.

OP, seriously, I LOVE mine. You have to let go of the idea that it's like a traditional hoover. It's an everyday thing for me. It's not a get-in-there-and-deep-clean-like-a-MoFo hoover. It's really about just hitting the A button, leaving the room, and letting it do it's thing. Also, press the 'corners' button so that it gets into all the edges and corners where dust collects. And the swirly circle button! I use that to really deep clean a certain area. And empty the dust collector frequently.
My house is much cleaner for it. And crucially, it's been good for my health! We have three pets and Eufy has been a lifesaver for me. I only use it downstairs on the wood floors though. Upstairs, I still use my tried and true old skool Miele hoover on the carpets.

And then... sometimes, things just don't work out. I got a Shark cordless vacuum a few years ago and I think I'm the only one on the planet who hates a Shark... just couldn't get on with it. I think I had a rogue bastard Shark. I ended up selling it on eBay. I hope your Eufy works out for you.

I'm sorry but this really made me laugh Grin

Honest to god I haven't laughed at anything like I did this in so long!

Mellowyellow222 · 17/07/2022 22:32

I live mine.

I have it programmed to do a 45 minute vacuum every day. It won’t cover 100% of all floors every time but by the whole floor gets done very three days.

mine is particularly fond of one bedroom and seems to spend a lot of time in there!

but the amount of dust I empty out of it every day is horrifying! And the hair my god where does it come from!!

SirenSays · 17/07/2022 22:36

I never understand the hype. They're full after picking up the tiniest speck of dust and immediately defeated by my long hair. Stupider than sheep, always getting stuck on everything and twice as suicidal.

DarlingDarwin · 17/07/2022 22:41

I second the bit about bright light, mine won’t cross it. Double check you’ve put the bits in properly.

Don't get it wet and never, ever feed it after midnight, either.

sidheandlight · 17/07/2022 23:15

I only got a Henry 8 months ago and after years of broken down hoovers, I can't get over what he does. He would hoover up my pup if I didn't stop him. Admittedly I am now testing him, there is nothing this bugger won't take up and I can hoover the whole downstairs from one plug. The Eufy sounds like you have to think too much.

Goawayangryman · 17/07/2022 23:29

Got a Eufy and a Henry Pet. Dream team. Eufy for hard floors, Henry for carpets and rugs. Have a massive shedding dog. Eufy gets on me tits sometimes when he beaches on the piano stand, wheels spinning pathetically in mid air, but I let him off.

weewill · 17/07/2022 23:35

Have a Deebot- it mops as well as hoovers. It's a dream.

Milkthistle55 · 17/07/2022 23:37

Love mine!! Basic one, comes on at night and it's a large large space but it gets pretty much everything eventually! First time i felt same as you, but i swear it learns what to do 😄
