Since the update, mumsnet on my ipad is unusable and there is no swipping on my Android app. I really miss the 'see all' feature. Perhaps instead of moaning that people aren't using it you could have checked that it is available to everyone. It isn't.

I'm so sorry. I should have contacted each MNer personally to check that their iPad worked.

You're not forced to use the app you know. I'm on my Android phone using chrome. And given what many of posters have said, clearly it works better than the app.

Saraclara or you could have asked in your OP. I think you will find that most of us access mn in the way that suits us best. Thank you for your advice though.

I've found that logging out of MN and switching off the iPad clears most problems for when I next log in.

If it's not a stupid question, what's the point of the app? It seems to have less functionality than the mobile site.

On the iPad app you click the filter funnel icon, then can see just the OPs posts whether you've got premium or not.

I use the app most of the time because it's less cluttered and easier to read - just swap to them browser version if I want to use one of the functions not available in the app. Best of both worlds.

Same here. Adblocker is liberating!

The app is much more straightforward and no pages to navigate. The only thing I miss is advanced search.

Amazingly, if you want to add the thread you're interested in to a list of threads you can return to and easily see the most recent posts - you don't need to add a post yourself saying 'placemarking' or 'pmk' or 'F' or '.'.

You can just click 'watch thread' at the top of the thread (OR the bottom!) and it'll go into 'threads I'm watching'. MN have recently revamped Threads I'm Watching so that they are ordered by most recently updated (if that's how you want to order them).

Thanks for the suggestion Tugboat I will try that. I'm not sure if it's because my iPad is pretty ancient but everything else works fine on it.

How do you get/use an adblocker please? Is it free?

I'm still a bit puzzled. I've got talk set to have all messages on one page so none to navigate either. Not being argumentative, Im genuinely wondering what's better about it as I often see complaints about its functionality. I use search all the time (useful for spotting trolls) so the app probably isn't for me.

These are the options on the android app. Very very limited. So much scrolling! So yes I do try to rtft, rarely respond unless I'm hopefully not going to embarrass myself with repeating pp or being horrible to op.

There are loads of adblocking extensions and they're pretty much all free. Just Google adblockers, and then download one of the recommended ones. You don't ned anything fancy.

For me it's the clarity of the app. These are screenshots of the opening post on this thread and the main website is too cluttered for me, there's too much other stuff on the page which I find irritating!

I prefer the app because it looks cleaner and it uses less data and less battery. Presumably because it's not loading the enormous ads. I was a beta tester for the iOS app and at the time could no longer use the website on my older iPad because loading the ads made it interminably slow. (Apologies to the OP if my response is partially unnecessary in a 'cancel the cheque' kind of way.)

I'm amazed that so many people put up with seeing ads (and waiting for them to load) when there are so many free adblockers around.

I ventured in once and backed away jibbering. I love a good App, usually but OMG the MN app is horrendous. All those weird speech bubble shapes.

Mobile site all the way for me, works like a desk in my phone. I even like the upgrade!
