This is how, when you come into an established or long thread, you can read any updates or extra information that the OP might have added, before you say your piece. Just tap on 'see all' which I've circled on the photo.

Thanks for looking. I hope it helps avoid a) you saying something irrelevant or b) other posters give you a hard time because of a)

That's only one desktop. If you use an app most features aren't available. Including messaging.

Yes. Several posters have already said that. But have you tried what @nellienolan has shown with her app screenshots?

saraclara · 12/07/2022 18:29

Lovely @LilyMumsnet is on the case, for app users too.

The problem isn't people don't know how to check for the OPs posts. It is that they think what they are saying is so important it should be said whatever.

It is obvious a couple of weeks after the initial post things will have changed but people still feel the need to give their opinion anyway.

Harridance · 12/07/2022 18:55

Why do people feel the need to dictate how others use mumsnet, isn't it a public forum?

I see it as saving people from themselves. Because who wants to look like a complete idiot when they suggest something that the OP has clearly said isn't an option? And who wants to get piled on by other posters when they do?

Who appointed you to police threads OP?

I am a prolific user of the filter on the iPhone app btw.

And please don't @ other posters. It's rude.

You're thread policing by telling the OP not to @ people!

Harridance · 12/07/2022 20:01

I agree, but thanks op for trying to save me from myself even though i do use that function. If people choose to 'pile on' anyone, that's not great, but it's a public forum.

Harridance · 12/07/2022 20:01

Well op did start it....

StopStartStop · 12/07/2022 20:03

Great help. In identifying dicks on mn.

@ShaunaTheSheep

Don't be daft. It's not rude to use a function provided by MN.

YOU can turn YOURS off if you want to.

onionbreath · 12/07/2022 20:38

I'm going to @ you @ShaunaTheSheep just for writing that dick post.

ShaunaTheSheep · 12/07/2022 22:09

It is rude to @ posters as a way to have a go at them.

Not policing, just manners.

ShaunaTheSheep · 12/07/2022 22:10

And I don't get notifications so cool your jets.

Doesn't work on the app.

Crankley · 12/07/2022 22:27

Are you forum monitor?

This is exactly the problem (I’ve done it myself and then looked like a total idiot).

Out of interest, App users, why aren’t you just using a browser on your phone? The app sounds like it is really clunky and has far fewer features.

TugboatAnnie · 12/07/2022 22:28

It's the thing that looks like a mooncup on the app. You can only select the op's posts unless you have premium. It would be nice to be able to include your own as well without having to pay. Then you can read on from where you posted last.

Can you not bookmark on the app?

How is it rude? You're directly addressing someone.

If it was rude and nasty then report it and it will be removed if it's against the terms and conditions

Crankley · 12/07/2022 22:27

Are you forum monitor?

No. But I thought it might be helpful information for quite a lot of people.

I'm not dictating what people do. I'm pointing out a feature.

OP posts:
TheDogTravelsByHelicopter · 12/07/2022 22:34

But if posters use the ‘see all’ function, others will no longer get to say ‘cancel the cheque’. 🤭

stayathomegardener · 12/07/2022 22:40

@saraclara that's fantastic! Thanks.
I think I've been on here since 2007ish and didn't realise that was a feature Blush
I bookmark like a pro though.

pogostickplastique · 12/07/2022 22:41

@RedHelenB you can filter by just OP's posts though if you swipe in the top bit and filter. Filtering by Op is included - filtering by anyone else is premium only - hope this helps

TugboatAnnie · 12/07/2022 22:41

@saraclara
I didn't realise swiping left had all those functions! Have just used 'bookmark' (excellent) and noticed that 'filter' is there as well as being at the top of the screen. Also 'share' instead of having to copy and paste. What an educational evening I'm having.
