SY - it is also not pleasant when an old guy in running shorts displays his all on the mat in front of you in a pilates class

Iota · 17/01/2008 12:01

I haven't been to the gym yet this year - can't face all the newbies fighting over the equipment

lazarou · 17/01/2008 12:05

ooh look, there's a ladies only gym just down the road and it does pole da cise!!!!!www.salon-obsessions.co.uk/page9.htm

SheikYerbouti · 17/01/2008 12:08

I can just see all the classy trowgridge chicks there now....

Buda · 17/01/2008 12:10

Had a girl that used to come to a gym I went to and she had really bad BO. One time I finished before her and went in to get showered. After my shower I realised she had hung her clothes up on the same hook as mine. Mine STANK of her BO. I moaned to my friend and put back on my sweaty gym gear just as she walked into the changing rooms - never saw her again thankfully.

Shaniece · 17/01/2008 12:16

I love the Gym and go nearly every day. But there are always women there with make up on that spend 30 minutes walking slowly on the treadmill - or go on the bike reading closer or similar peddaling really slow. I don't see the point in visiting the Gym unless you intend to do a rigorous workout AND sweat - these women don't sweat at all (obv don't workout hard enough).

lazarou · 17/01/2008 12:16

Do you think it might be quite good fun though? I know it's a bit smutty but I wouldn't mind giving it a go. I might walk down there tommorrow and have a look around. I would definitely use the gym.

SheikYerbouti · 17/01/2008 12:21

It's too far for me to do tbh

I also don;t have time for gyms. I work FT (Like I am supposed to be now) and my hours are odd times of the day, like eraly morn/late evening. I'd love to go to a gym, just to get away from the children

lazarou · 17/01/2008 12:25

I'm going to go and have a look tomorrow. You can hire the poles out to practice with as well!! Perhaps I should just buy a pole and stick it in my living room. dh wouldn't mind, i'm sure.

Kimi · 17/01/2008 12:28

I know I should have passed this by but.....
Firstly Icod, I think you need to speak to someone in charge in the gym, My gym staff are lovely and did have words with some young chaps who were trying to be rambo with the weights
and being noisy and disruptive.

Second can we please leave the tourettes jokes alone, my son has to deal with idiots like you lot and its not funny.

LazyLinePainterJane · 17/01/2008 12:32

Well, one person laughed at a tourettes reference. I think the first question was genuine.

cornsilk · 17/01/2008 12:38

I can't bear sweat all over the equipment. One man at my gym sweats buckets - it's gross. You can tell when he's been on a machine as it's got dried up sweat puddles allaround it on the floor. And old ladies who roll their eyes and tut when you take your kids swimming at family swim time.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 17/01/2008 12:43

Last circle of hell.

Can't you take a blow-pipe and puncture him with a poisoned dart?

He ended up smacking the shite out of two boys who were teasing him Part of me was glad he stood up for himself, but as he has an IQ of 147 I think is letting himself down by hitting.

Sidge · 17/01/2008 14:33

There are 2 women at my gym that wear "fashion" clothing rather than proper sports gear, and pedal gently whilst yakking about Richard and how amazing he is at straightening her hair, and wasn't Lisa SO RUDE! about Vanessa's new boyfriend, and was Kerry going to come down the White Hart later or just meet them at Tiger Tiger..... aarrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh!!!

Just SHUT UP and work out properly you dozy bints!

Well, it is possible to chat and work up a sweat at the ame time. There are a cluster of us who put the world to rights on the cross-trainer/bikes. Conversations ebb and flow according to which stage of the hill programme we are on and all sentences are punctuated with gasps for air. We sweat profusely but ,being the considerate women that we are, always take towels with which to wipe down the machines.

I LOVE the steam room
I have been known to sing along with my mp3 without knowing I'm doing it though (please don't hate me)

Chequers, I am hoping it will stop them, and yes I know I'm biased but he is a great little chap.

private gyms so such awful places...none of these people go to my leisure cntre one

nice gym never more than about half a dozen people ..excellent equipment

clean tidy

ordinary people

the pool just has people swimming in it and quite often not many at all except sunday morning when the bossy dads go

only tedious bit is that in the 18 months i have been going they have never changed the music loop

but not i have a shuffle even that doesn't matter

oh and it only costs 24.00 month
