Couldn’t find another one but found about 10 complaining about it.

I am living my best life. I hate cold, rain, miserable grey wet weather, hate wrapping up in layers, wearing socks and shoes (I could go on)

I love the sun on my face, going for walks in the early morning and evening, eating outdoors, seeing kids get excited about water pistols and paddling pools. Eating salads and loads of fruit, wearing sandals or no shoes at all. Being able to leave the cushions on the garden furniture without worrying about them being rained on.

Anyone else enjoying this?

(If there is another existing thread can someone link to it and I will request this one be deleted)

Loving it. Wafting around in a long loose dress, eating outside, reading under a parasol in the garden, it’s like being on holiday. Thank you for the gratitude thread @SandieCollins.

MaxOverTheMoon · 10/07/2022 19:26

I've been sat in my garden reading a book and drinking g&ts all day - bliss.

girlfriend44 · 10/07/2022 19:29

Love the Summer and It goes by far too quick.

Love sitting in the garden.
Ice cubes with drinks
Ice lolly
No need for a coat.
Washing dries easily.

HintofVintagePink · 10/07/2022 19:32
  • Children splashing about in the garden and eating dinner outside whilst they dry off.
  • Laundry drying beautifully
  • The lavender baking all day in the heat and smelling incredible as it cools
  • Homemade ice lollies
Olinguita · 10/07/2022 19:33

I LOVE the heat. It energises me and lifts my mood. Massive help for me this year as I have a 10 month old boy who is a poor sleeper and the heatwave has really put a spring in my step again. The kid seems to thrive in the heat too and i love dressing him up in cute cotton summer outfits that my MIL has brought over from India (DH's home country). Today he was rocking a stylish green kurta with beautiful block print. Ilove all the yummy summer fruits in the market too.

Mommabear20 · 10/07/2022 19:36

I'm midway through my 3rd pregnancy and chancing 2 toddlers round at the same time so not enjoying it that much, but I am loving how happy it makes my kids to be able to go to the park or go in the pool every day! Their smiles make it worth it 🥰

BellaLab · 10/07/2022 19:38

I’m in the Scottish Highlands so any sunny day is a blessing 😂. I’ve been paddle boarding and swimming in the loch yesterday and today with the dogs with no wetsuit on. I love wearing floaty dresses and flip flops, eating outside, feeling the warm sun on my face and feeling happy. The sun boosts my mood as I was diagnosed with SAD 11 years ago. I live for the long evenings and light mornings. I never feel guilty about loving summer given the amount of shitty twinkly light and cosy blankets posts on here. They can suck up a few weeks of wall to wall sunshine and heat ☺️

dottypotter · 10/07/2022 19:40

Picnics
Evening Walks
2 or 3 loads of washing bone dry in the day.
Wearing Shorts and T shirts.
Brass Bands in the Park. Everyone relaxed and Chilling.

Feeellostindirection · 10/07/2022 19:42

Cold gin and tonic in the garden

AngeloMysterioso · 10/07/2022 19:44

Love it! Hang washing outside and it’s dry in no time, sitting outside in the garden while DS plays, getting the paddling pool out for a good old splash around, pottering at my allotment after the DC are in bed. Drinking a nice icy cold glass of wine and reading a book on the patio in the evening.

LoobyDop · 10/07/2022 19:46

Because you can be outside all the time, and being outside is just better. You feel better for it, it’s the way we are supposed to live. It’s the single thing I hate most about the north of England, that we just can’t rely on warm, dry weather in the summer.

Also, my philosophy is that it doesn’t matter what else is going on in your life, you get the same joy from feeling the sun on you. You can be in trouble at work, drowning in debt, heading for divorce… doesn’t matter, you can still feel endorphins from a good dose of sunshine.

BusySittingDown · 10/07/2022 19:48

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sun and warm weather. Hate the cold and I'm always cold.

I love that it's so easy to figure out what to wear - throw on a sundress, slip on my sliders = done. It's ace not having to take a coat or carry a brolly. I hate the dilemma of "do I need my big coat? Will I be cold in a light jacket? I need about a thousand layers. Will I get wet?"

All the washing gets done and dried really speedily.

I love the smell of bbqs.

I love the sound of people in their gardens and kids playing outside (which is weird because I hate kids and people 😂, the sunshine obviously puts me in a better mood).

I love walking past a pub and seeing people sitting outside having a drink. I love GOING to the pub and sitting outside having a drink 😃.

I love the fact that my poor scruffy dressing gown gets a break. I'm always cold so have it on 24/7 over my clothes, even if I have a thick jumper on! In this lovely weather I don't need it!

Bubblebubblebah · 10/07/2022 19:52

SandieCollins · 10/07/2022 18:52

This is making me feel really lovely, all these things just make life feel better.
@Bubblebubblebah someone suggested antihistamine for a friend struggling with heat rash and I want to say beta carotene (but check that out as I’m not a doctor and have a terrible memory)

Thanks! I sill have a look. It's random but getting it more often now

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 10/07/2022 19:55

I bloody LOVE IT! Love the sun, love the heat, I've been lying in the garden all afternoon soaking it up like a sponge.

There's nothing better than a properly hot summer.

Grumpybutfunny · 10/07/2022 19:58

Spent yesterday in the garden having a water fight with DS finished off with a nice bbq. Today had been at the beach playing in the sea and just finishing the day off with a gin in the hot tub whilst DH baths DS. May make a trip to costco this week for a giant paddling pool of next weeks temperatures are to be believed

mrsbitaly · 10/07/2022 19:58

Barbecues, games seeing my children's faces light up when we go to the beach or outdoor swimming. Icecreams, cocktails the smell of sun cream. Every sunny day feels like a holiday

Coastalcreeksider · 10/07/2022 20:00

Love the sound of the oyster catchers and even the seagulls
Washing drying outside
Reading out on the patio in the shade
Admiring my pots brimming with colour
Watching the birds in the birdbath
Seeing the glorious sunsets from my roof window
The lovely light evenings till late

AnyFucker · 10/07/2022 20:01

I am in a wafty sundress, flip flops and no knickers

It’s great. Until I have to go to work where I am gussied up in level 3 PPE. That is not great.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 10/07/2022 20:02

Sitting in my garden right now with a cold glass of wine, enjoying the smell of the jasmine.

SirChenjins · 10/07/2022 20:04

Loving it here. I’ve got covid and have been able to sit outside with a good book rather than being stuck indoors, I’ve got several loads of washing dried on the line, have been out for fog walks during the quiet times, and am currently sitting outside in a t-shirt and shorts watching the birds fly about the trees and enjoying the view of the garden in its glory. It’s bliss to feel the sun warming my bones.

SunflowerGardens · 10/07/2022 20:15

It's just really nice to be able to continue normal life after dinner time. You don't have to pull the curtains and warm up with stew and cups of tea after 4pm, you can sit outside with a book or go to the park or the kids can play football before bedtime.

I also love the smell of honeysuckle and all the summer plants just when dusk is starting.

Somethingsnappy · 10/07/2022 20:23

Washing dries quickly.

I'll hand that to you crazy lot.... 😝

Hedonism · 10/07/2022 20:23

I love it. All of it. It's just so much better than cold weather. So bloody lovely.

ThatDreamSheep · 10/07/2022 20:23

Leaving for the school run without having a put a coat on!

icecreamgirl94 · 10/07/2022 20:23

I’ve spent the weekend teaching my toddler to swim in the lake near to where we live. I’ve been hoping for a summer like this so that we could do that. We go to the leisure pool often but it’s not the same as being outside in the open water. Only downside is I’m a few months pregnant but not ready to tell people yet and in a bikini I just look like I’ve had a big lunch, it’s not a look! 😬
