To ask if it’s likely that Spain will abandon its covid travel rules?

We have an unvaccinated teen who needs to have a clear pcr test before we go. With numbers going up this worries me that he’s going to be positive and we won’t get to go. Wondering whether to swap to Greece or somewhere where there are no restrictions. Hoping that Spain will drop their restrictions but I think they would’ve done so by now if they were going to.

New update due on 15th July with regard to testing.
You can get a test from simplytestme.co.uk or 10.00 delivered to your door really easy to do and upload.
That's if things stay the same many of the major countries that cater for summer holidays have dropped all regulations.
Maybe wise maybe not but those are the rules, no test needed to return to UK

New update 15th July? I hope they will scrap it all then (know it’s doubtful!) Where have you seen that there’ll be a new update in the 15th?

Great to see someone talking some sense instead of the vax-loving crazies on here! 😄 Going to the Balearics myself at the end of this month so I hope the changes on the 15th someone mentioned previously don't affect this

Southern countries are worried because their NHS is free. Unvaxxed (and overweight) people are more likely to end up in hospital which means more money spent and more resourses used on Covid instead of cracking on with regular surgeries. Numbers have started going up all over Southern Europe.

Do any of you know whether under 12s who aren’t vaccinated need a PCR? DS (11) won’t be wholly vaccinated before we go. My reading is that u12s don’t even have to have a PCR but I’m not sure about that or whether it’s changed

Tengreen · 05/07/2022 14:38

I can’t find anything about a July update

from my reading under 12s don’t need anything

does anyone know what would happen if you take the lft 24 hours before your scheduled flight time and then flight is delayed?

DarkGlassesAndHat · 05/07/2022 14:43

Springandsummerarecoming · 04/07/2022 22:18

There isn’t enough time and he doesn’t want the vaccination.

Well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions... 🤔

In April we flew to a country where we still needed negative test plus fully vaccinated.
Our flight was 1st thing in morning and we did LFT the night before just to give us an extra 12 hrs leeway in case of delays.
It's all quite stressful testing the day before you go though!

Under 12s don't need anything for entry to Spain.

It was the coming back that I found stressful when testing was required for return to the UK.

I do a lot of short trips to Europe for work and never knowing whether I'd pass the test to come home was rubbish last year.

HelloSpringIveMissedYou · 05/07/2022 14:48

My eldest teen wouldn't get his 2nd vaccine, no probs we'll leave you at home. He's booked his vaccine for later this week.

DasGirl · 05/07/2022 14:53

Oh yes absolutely @SofiaSoFar
As it was only for holidays I decided not to go abroad when we had to test to get home again. Was just far too stressful, it would've ruined the trip for me

YourLittleSecret · 05/07/2022 15:37

You can get a postal pcr for £35. DS got covid 2 weeks before holiday so he got a test in case we needed to cancel for insurance company. Luckily he was negative in time or we wouldn't have gone.
When we went to Spain they had a separate channel for people with children. Adults only channel they checked a sample of vaccine passports. So some walked straight through and others were stopped.

Wow what wonderful parenting, coercing a child into a vaccine they don't want. Let's hope he doesn't end up with myocarditis or any other bad effects from the vaccine he doesn't need

Mine would rather stay at home rather than get it 🙄.
Other vaccines are not optional but this wasn’t a hill I was going to die on.
it is stressful though and the rules are ridiculous.

I am quite taken aback to read this.

This level of coercion and control towards a teen is just the same as governments the world over.

Accepting a vaccine should be because of the protection from ill health, not a prerequisite for freedom of movement, like a visa.

PlopPlop · 06/07/2022 06:49

This would 100% be my approach, teenagers should be taught about consequences, and if we had to pay for additional testing on top of the cost of the holiday because they wasn’t vaccinated by choice I would be asking for the teenager to pay the cost

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 06/07/2022 07:26

Having just flown back from Madrid, they are still very much on alert for Covid. Masks on all public transport, antiseptic gel at every entrance, quite a few people wearing masks on the street etc. You can't get in without being vaccinated. Instead of looking for loopholes, why don't you do the decent thing and encourage your son to get vaccinated? Numbers appear to be going up again.

Spanielservant · 06/07/2022 07:40

I hope they tighten up and have a bit of respect for people.unlike the loony uk antivaxxers. People are affected, pretending its just a conspiracy to stop.ypu hopping on a crappojet cheap holiday is really stupid.

Clymene · 04/07/2022 21:46

Let's not pretend parents have no influence over their children @OnlyFoolsnMothers

My children are vaccinated against hpv and meningitis and Covid. Because although it's in theory their choice, I educated them.

Aren’t you superior? Well done.

sst1234 · 06/07/2022 07:45

This thread is indicative of batshit attitudes towards vaccinating healthy people for an illness that is highly likely to impact them. Sorry state of affairs when people become so hysterical as to become such extremists.

sst1234 · 06/07/2022 07:47

lospolloshermanosass · 05/07/2022 15:37

😂

Oh yes, hilarious! Not a tiny bit unhinged or weird to force your children to do something that is almost of no benefit to them.

BeethovenNinth · 06/07/2022 07:57

I’m confused - why the rush to vaccinate if it doesn’t stop you spreading it?

we are avoiding Spain for this reason as my DD (13) hasn’t had it and I don’t see a holiday as reason enough.

if a vaccine comes out that stops her getting Covid I will be first in the queue!

OP I fear Spain may tighten things up not relax

SarahProblem · 06/07/2022 07:59

There is a shocking lack of decency expressed by some posters. Imagine faking a medical test to go on holiday. I think that's beyond low and you need to seriously have a word with yourself.

People are welcome to refuse a vaccine I support that freedom but don't go moaning about having to test more. Even vaccinated, it's best to minimise contact before a holiday.

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 06/07/2022 08:11

DC is due to travel abroad twice this year; they got their 3rd jab (booster) on Thursday because, in their words, 'I don't want to be stopped at the border'. First trip is to Scandinavia in 3 weeks time and Finland has just changed its rules, in the last few days, to not needing to show vacc status or needing a test pre travel. On that basis, Spain might still change its rules. Are the Covid numbers going up in the EU like they are here?
