People are struggling, prices of everyday items climbing every week (more so than in other developed countries). Everyone's spirit appears to be low. The jubilee weekend raised spirits a little but only temporarily.
Yes, post pandemic fatigue is probably a factor but I can't think of a single thing this government has done that has improved the lives of ordinary working people. In fact, quite the opposite.

(Come at me Tory troll farms)

That’s the plan, keep the paupers from revolting.

Dancingwithhyenas · 04/07/2022 15:54

One word - Brexit

RiojaRose · 04/07/2022 15:56

Yes, Brexit. And of course constant corruption.

Provenceinthesummer · 04/07/2022 15:57

It’s not just the pandemic, a serious war is raging in Europe causing these issues op. It is happening globally not just here.
Please keep things in perspective, it could be, and still may get much worse regardless of who is in government l.

Georgeskitchen · 04/07/2022 15:57

Its not the government's job to nanny people. What's wrong with self improvement?

SavoirFlair · 04/07/2022 15:58

If people continue to believe in “market forces” determining everything, then this is the rulers you deserve.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 04/07/2022 15:58

They are pretty clear on the message that TWANW and should keep the hell out of women's sports, changing rooms etc. And that sex = sex and gender = loada bollocks. That single issue would get them my vote (or is that two issues? 🤔)

roarfeckingroarr · 04/07/2022 16:00

Why is it the government's job to fix everything?

sashagabadon · 04/07/2022 16:03

I think lockdown and it’s negative impacts is a bigger issue now than brexit.
Shutting everything down for almost two years has had such a negative impact for lots of people.

sashagabadon · 04/07/2022 16:05

I am also a big fan of the government’s approach to gender ideology in schools, sports and other public arenas. They are doing good work where that is concerned.

Onlyforcake · 04/07/2022 16:07

This isn't going to get better Brexit and Covid were inevitably going to be followed by a financial mess, next up is environmental crisis. But they'll be "busy" redecorating, quaffing and partying. That's what they think work looks like.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 04/07/2022 16:10

roarfeckingroarr · 04/07/2022 16:00

Why is it the government's job to fix everything?

But... that IS their job! Or, as a minimum, it's their job to put at least some measures in place to prevent absolutely everything going completely to shit.

11Hawkins · 04/07/2022 16:13

Because they're to busy being perverts, shoving cocaine up their noses and paying their mates off.

We need a new government. The whole thing needs shaking up, let the little parties have a chance of becoming government. I'm sick to death of the tories and Labour and Lib Dem are useless.

loulouljh · 04/07/2022 16:13

Agreed.

Charles11 · 04/07/2022 16:14

I believe so. They're not going to help so we need to come together as a community and try to help each other.
Reducing social media and increasing actual social contact would help.
As would eating well and exercising.
Its not going to make those problems in the op go away but it can help us to improve our wellbeing which is something we can all try to improve at the moment.

Atomicspider · 04/07/2022 16:15

Well
No one seemed to mind being furloughed. Most were quite pleased at a vaccination too. People seem to enjoy free healthcare (personally I’d rather pay for good healthcare but that’s a different matter). There’s only so much a government can do to respond to global challenges.

malificent7 · 04/07/2022 16:19

I heard that Bojo jokingly made the remark "pincher by name..pincher by nature regarding the sexual harassment one of his whips exhibited. Yet we still vote for them...coz Labour.
What we really mean is...coz racism, coz Rule Britannia.

TimBoothseyes · 04/07/2022 16:20

No one seemed to mind being furloughed

I think you'll find a great many did.

the80sweregreat · 04/07/2022 16:24

Covid / furlough and government borrowing to stay afloat was a tough one because if they hadn't locked us down and more people had died and the health service had collapsed completely then we would be saying ' but why didn't they do something?'
I know that my place made us feel terrible that we couldn't go in , almost as if it was our fault!
We all knew things would be tough afterwards but we had to follow the rules at that time.
The economy will pick up , it's food and fuel prices I'm dreading going up again in the autumn. It's all pretty gloomy on that front

Cakemonger · 04/07/2022 16:26

The Tories are not there to improve the lives of ordinary working people.

Hi Boris 👋🏻

Provenceinthesummer · 04/07/2022 16:26

I don’t think Labour are going to save us somehow!

The truth is we are in a new Cold War, please do not underestimate the impact of the war in Ukraine and food prices, inflation and energy prices. This was inevitable the day Russia invaded an innocent European country and one of the biggest exporters of food.

Serious issues are developing with China - this is larger than what we see on the surface.

Covid is now ripping through the U.K. again, and so many people are off sick ( I am one of them) this has a huge impact on production and services. We are in a vicious cycle - if we limit and put in restrictions on people we choke off business and ruin peoples lives and well being, but if we continue as normal we are going to be enduring endless cycles of covid. I am on day 10 and still too ill to go anywhere.

We knew the costs of furloughing millions but was the alternative?

The problems are bigger than party politics and brexit, and I am prepared for things to get much worse, trying to find someone to blame is futile but if you must, you should start with the same person murdering tens of thousands as we speak: Putin.

Provenceinthesummer · 04/07/2022 16:28

what you personally doing to improve your situation op?

Charles11 · 04/07/2022 16:30

Labour aren't going to help. Neither is any other party.
There's power in collectiveness. I wish we could all come together and find strength instead of being divided with labels and being weak.

Squills · 04/07/2022 16:36

It is not the government or Brexit. There is a war escalating in Ukraine. The Ukraine is known as the bread basket of Europe - of course prices are escalating. There has also been a pandemic... again this has had a huge effect on prices. It is not just the UK who are experiencing these issues - US inflation is at a 40 year high.

I don't understand why people are surprised that a pandemic and an ongoing war have a detrimental effect on prices.
