To ask if you think crystals have any power?

You know like healing or strength or helping you with whatever power the Crystal has?

Is this just a make believe thing like astrology or do you think there is power in crystals?

Of course not.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 04/07/2022 07:41

No but placebo effect is real so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Talipesmum · 04/07/2022 07:41

Absolutely none whatsoever. But I can’t resent the daft shops that sell them because they’re v pretty.
Plenty of people do believe it, but they also seem to believe a lot of other woo things that seem to have no basis in fact.

MargaretThursday · 04/07/2022 07:43

The same amount that was in my "magic cream" pot when the children were small.

It was an old camera film 35mm plastic case with a sparkly star sticker, and sudocrem inside.
But the children were sure it healed anything, and the magic was definitely there because the cream never ran out. Oka:
I replaced it from the big tub when I'd used it.

CounsellorTroi · 04/07/2022 07:43

No. How can they? They are just rocks.

KrisAkabusi · 04/07/2022 07:43

No.

neverbeenskiing · 04/07/2022 07:44

Of course not.

JanglyBeads · 04/07/2022 07:44

No

PollenHigh · 04/07/2022 07:45

None whatsoever.

They look nice though.

bishbashboshhhhh · 04/07/2022 07:47

No but I think if it gives people something to believe in that helps them that’s fine

Anothernamechangeplease · 04/07/2022 07:47

Personally, no, I don't believe that the crystals themselves have any power. However, I know that a lot of people believe in them, and I think that their belief does have power.

CulturePigeon · 04/07/2022 07:48

No, not in any objective, verifiable sense.

Narcheska · 04/07/2022 07:50

Nope but I spent some of my teen years living in a small village just outside Glastonbury which has a massive culture of let lines, crystals, wicca and Paganism etc so knew a lot of people who did believe it.

they’re very pretty to look at tho

riotlady · 04/07/2022 07:52

No but they’re very pretty

Antarcticant · 04/07/2022 07:52

No, they are pretty and might have a 'placebo' effect but nothing more.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/07/2022 07:53

Well... crystals may help in healing if they're of a protein and you solve it using X-ray crystallography and then that helps you design a new therapeutic drug ...

My view on crystals is pretty well summed up by the Douglas Adams quote

Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/07/2022 07:54

They seem to be pretty good at extracting money from people.

Fairislefandango · 04/07/2022 07:55

No, of course not.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 04/07/2022 07:55

They have the power to make lots of people spend their money on nonsense 🤷🏻‍♀️

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 04/07/2022 07:56

No, its just good PR.
I wouldn't disrespect anyone who does believe in them though, and love to see them hanging in a window catching the sun. A good friend went through trauma and used crystals placed in significant places in her home and even kept one in her bra. The fact that she thought she was doing something positive to help herself gave her comfort.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/07/2022 07:57

No, but they're pretty and if it gives someone what they need to get through the day then, why the hell not? At least they fall to benign side of woo nonsense.

LaWench · 04/07/2022 07:59

They're pretty stones, looking at something nice can make you feel good, but healing your ills? Nope.

InChocolateWeTrust · 04/07/2022 08:20

No, but live and let live. I don't believe in most of the stuff in the Bible and other major world religious texts either and out of everything, a few woo crystals isn't doing anyone any harm

Elphame · 04/07/2022 08:43

No and the cost in environmental terms and human suffering is immense. Worker conditions are appalling and often involve child labour.

If you can buy a pretty stone for £1 that has been mined, tumbled, sent half way round the world and provided a profit to the wholesaler and retailer, how much do you think the miner working in dangerous conditions received?

Good point.
