To be pleased that Steve Wright is leaving the Radio 2 afternoon show?

I have felt for a long time that Steve Wright has gone past his sell by date and was so pleased to hear that his show is finishing at long last. His Friday afternoon show of ‘jockin’ with no G is beyond tedious.

My kids know him as the radio man who annoys me my talking over songs. So yeah I'm glad he's going. I quite like Scott mills so I'm happy enough.

No when is Jeremy Vine and his awful lunchtime show going?

Oh no, I was so sad to hear this. I love Steve Wright! I used to hate him but the last few years I’ve grown to love the familiarity of the jingle, the pointless factoids, Serious Jockin and so on - I always assumed it was meant to be ironic & not taken seriously. And I love the fact it’s been the same forever. In a world of change & turmoil WE NEED STEVE WRIGHT.

I can't find any Dj I want to listen to, all the above mentioned are all awful.

I don't even know why I listen to Radio 2 as the only presenters I actively enjoy listening to are Vanessa Feltz and Ken Bruce.

You are probably not the target audience. Listen to something else. I enjoy listening to radio 2; it’s on all day in our house.

Love Scott Mills. I’m pleased SW is going. I hate that he still talks over the songs as if people are recording them like it’s 1986.

I don't think any of them are as entertaining as the think they are.

But a special mention to Sara Cox, how the F does she get away with it?

To be honest, I mainly listen to podcasts, streamed music and audiobooks now, if I am in the car on a short journey I have to listen to something. Most of the "banter" just makes me cringe.

I don't like Scott Mills, can't understand why they've given him the afternoon slot. I still miss Simon Mayo's drive time. Ken Bruce is the only one worth tuning in for now and I miss his slot as I'm at work.

I shall miss the Harpist on a Wednesday.

I can't be doing with Scott Mills at all though. He sounds like the trainee on hospital radio. But on the good side, he will never be asked to mullock his way through Popmaster again.

Another person here who is glad SW is going but not too happy about his replacement! I tend to listen more to Greatest Hits Radio these days especially Drivetime with Simon Mayo and Matt sports reporter as they have all the best bits still- confessions and suchlike 😎

No way is he going to 6 Music?!!! It's heard it was Radio 3.

Anyway I agree with a PP that 6 Music has gone a bit downhill lately, but they still have some brilliant DJs. Giles Peterson is getting very boring IMO.

You know that game, 'If you had one gun and two bullets, who would you shoot?' He would be VERY high on my list of those I'd consider giving both bullets. I have an irrational hatred for him. This news has made my week. Hope he takes the equally irritating 'Bobster' with him! Good riddance!

I flicked his show on by mistake a little while ago and thought I’d been transported back in time, it’s exactly the same he was doing on Radio 1 20 years ago isn’t it!!

I haven’t seen anything official to suggest he’s going to 6 music, I can’t see that fitting myself.

I love Lauren Laverne in the morning on 6 music, really calm, interesting & chilled with the occasional ravey tune to mix it up.

Pity they dont get rid of a few more on there such as Ritche anderson that would go to the opening of a fridge given a chance

My perfect day on the radio would be ;
Terry wogan at breakfast
Ken Bruce and Popmaster
Amol Rajan taking JV show with (Terry allotment slot but no Sarah Clacky Jarvis )
Gary Davies in the afternoon
Simon Mayo taking drivetime
Pete Tong then taking over from 7
Sally to do the traffic so no Anderson anywhere
