To be pleased that Steve Wright is leaving the Radio 2 afternoon show?

I have felt for a long time that Steve Wright has gone past his sell by date and was so pleased to hear that his show is finishing at long last. His Friday afternoon show of ‘jockin’ with no G is beyond tedious.

I've always switched him off. He's always had silly little words and phrases that he's overused.

I download an audiobook for the school run so I don't have to listen to him!!! He's awful.

We used to listen to Radio 2 at work but we only really like Ken Bruce and Sara Cox. Jeremy Vine and Steve Wright are awful.The characters and impressions are awful and so cringey and unfunny. And factoids are just something they read in metro that morning.

I’ve just been listening to oooh Gary Davies and his 1980’s show. It really took me back to being a young teenager listening to him late on a Saturday evening.

Haven't read the full thread, but someone earlier commented that SW says the same thing every day, at the same time, (serious jockin') yes that sounds tedious. Thought the man looked ridiculous outside Wogan House, he doesn't dye his hair & beard, does he? Looks like he's craving his lost youth. The BBC were quite wrong to name what was previously Broadcasting House after an overpaid previous employee. All these awards that broadcasters receive, in a relatively small industry, when they are already extremely well paid, i.e. Clare Balding, there are so many TV and radio programmes which she presents, to such an extent she is now over exposed, a relative newcomer should be given a chance, just occasionally, as if a programme is well received, it is not always down to whichever celeb is presenting it. Rant over, I will get my claws back in now !

Not keen on Steve Wright, although I enjoy the listener's choices at 3, probably because we get to hear something a little different,
But Scott Mills ........😴😴😴 I will be listening to 6 music in the afternoons now

He is dated and a bit cheesy but I like the non stop oldies slot and he has a great rapport with his co presenters .
Not sure if I will like Scott Mills more, 3 hours of Sara Cox is probably too long!
Was a lot sadder when Simon mayo left, was gutted about that.
I think Ken Bruce is on borrowed time.

I love Steve Wright - remember his Radio One show back in the day. Luckily for me, I also like Scott Mills who'll be replacing him

I don’t live in the UK but every single time I’m home and driving around, I wonder what and who was keeping this old, boring man from the mid 80s on mainstream radio. He must know a LOT!

I honestly don’t think he’s going to be on 6 Music, has this been reported anywhere or are people just saying it on here? He’s really not the kind of thing they have on 6 music…

YANBU. He always seemed to be on when I switched Radio 2 on as well. I don't care for Scott Mills either though. There are very few DJs who are actually listenable.

Steve Wright was on about £500k pa I think plus all the hangers on so that’s just saved a chunk of change
